What a Country?
We cried for a total stranger today because...
The people of Maraban Jos failed her...
Men, Women and the Youth disbelieved her...
Kaduna state failed her....
The DPO failed her...
The Nigerian police couldn't save her life....
Unfortunately....Nigeria happened to her 😢 😠😢 ðŸ˜
The tragic killing of Ustazah Ummulkhairi in Maraban Jos, Kaduna State is a painful reminder of the dangers of mob action and false accusations. She reportedly went to attend a religious lecture lost her way and asked children for directions. Sadly, this was wrongly interpreted as an attempt to kidnap children.
Even after she was taken to the police station and her identity was confirmed by witnesses, the crowd still refused to listen. She was later attacked and k!lled leaving behind her husband, more than five children and a devastated community.
This heartbreaking incident must not be ignored. The authorities should conduct a transparent and impartial investigation, identify all those involved and ensure justice is served according to the law.
No one should be killed over suspicion or an unverified claim. Mob justice has no place in society.
We call on the Kaduna State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Uba Sani, to urgently launch a thorough investigation into the brutal killing of this servant of Allah, who was falsely accused of child kidnapping, despite being a respected Islamiyya teacher with a good reputation, who had only gone out to attend a religious lecture.
We also call for stronger public enlightenment on the dangers of taking the law into one’s own hands, spreading rumours and passing judgment based on baseless accusations.
May Allah have mercy on her, forgive her and grant her family and the community she left behind the patience to bear this great loss.
