Health Watch Africa Reports:A Glimpse of Nigeria’s National Flag-Off of the Integrated Vaccines Campaign.
Health Watch Africa brings you highlights from the national flag-off ceremony of the Integrated Campaign for Measles-Rubella (MR), Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Polio, Routine Immunization Vaccines, and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) interventions, held at the Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja.
The event marked a significant milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing commitment to protect children and families against vaccine-preventable diseases.
The campaign was officially flagged off by Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu (CON), First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who, in her keynote address, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring that every Nigerian child enjoys a healthy start in life.
> “We take another bold step towards protecting the lives and the future of our children. This flag-off is a declaration of our collective resolve as a nation to say no more to the diseases that steal the future of our sons and daughters,” she stated.
“With this vaccine, our children will be protected against two deadly diseases and enjoy a lifetime of safety and protection. This effort builds on our united front against polio, tuberculosis, human papillomavirus, and other vaccine-preventable diseases. It also aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, which ensures that every Nigerian child has a healthy start in life and that no mother dies while birthing life.”
As emphasized during the event, vaccines are safe, effective, and free.
They save lives, prevent diseases, and give children the chance to grow, learn, and thrive.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to ensure their children get vaccinated today!
The campaign will be implemented in phases:
*Phase 1: 19 Northern States and Oyo State — 6th to 15th October 2025*
*Phase 2: Southern States — January to February 2026*
