Environtropica
An International Journal of the Tropical Environment Articles are therefore welcome from pure and applied as well as social scientists.
The primary focus of Environtropica is the tropical environment, either in its natural state or in its exploited form. Manuscripts submitted for consideration in the journal must be devoted to the presentation and discussion of original research or to significant review and interpretative articles. Environtropica views the environment in its broadest sense to include not only the biotic and abioti

International Journal of the Tropical Environment - Environtropica Aquaculture is the fastest growing food industry in the world. It can be practiced on a small, medium or large scale. The proliferation of fish ponds and the indiscriminate discharge of waste water from aquaculture into the environment without adequate treatment are of a great environmental and publ...
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS ON ENVIRONTROPICA
Articles should be general enough to interest tropical workers at large and yet they should be sufficiently substantive to attract the specialist with contents of lasting value and significance in tropical studies.

This study investigated the effect of land use and seasonal variation on the species richness, diversity and abundance of anthophilous insects sampled on three land use types grasslands, agricultural lands and secondary forests on Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife for 12 months covering the dry and wet seasons.

Post Ebola Disease Scourge: Impacts on Perception and Influx Rate of Tourists into the University of Ibadan Zoological Garden, Nigeria
----
This work aimed at highlighting the impacts of post Ebola disease scourge on the perception and influx rate of tourists into the University of Ibadan zoological garden. The study used an interviewed-administered questionnaire. Two types of questionnaire (type I and type II) were used. Data were a**lyzed and presented in percentages as well as Pearson moment correlation coefficient and descriptive statistics. Results showed that tourists who responded to the questions were Nigerians (119.0; 92.2%) while majority of the tourists had tertiary education (90.0; 69.7%). It was shown that not touching animals in their enclosure is significant .050 * (P

Seasonal variation in the diversity of anthophilous insects in three land use types on Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Southwestern Nigeria

Insect diversity loss in terrestrial ecosystems is driven by land use intensification, habitat loss and other anthropogenic activities and environmental stressors. Availability of critical resources such as nectar and pollen-providing plants are crucial to the success of many anthophilous insect taxa. This could result in differences in the abundance, species richness and species diversity of anthophilous insects between seasons and across different land use types. Higher abundance was recorded in secondary forest and grassland land use types compared to agricultural land. There was no significant difference in the species richness and diversity of anthophilous insects among the land use types. The effect of seasonal variation was more pronounced on grassland and agricultural land compared to secondary forest. Flowering plant abundance and species richness positively influenced the abundance, species richness and diversity of anthophilous insects. This supports the notion that land use change and seasonal variations influences the availability of flowering plants which directly affects the abundance, species richness and diversity of anthophilous insects.
