On the occasion of World Breastfeeding Day, our Community Health Department and students from our College of Nursing proudly collaborated with the Maternal and Child Resources Initiative on Breastfeeding (MaCRIB) to promote the theme "Prioritize Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems." The organization hosted a seminar featuring two insightful lectures. The first, "Debunking Cultural Myths Around Breastfeeding," was delivered by Advocate Alagbo, a distinguished member of MaCRIB. The second lecture, "Community Health Workers as Breastfeeding Allies," was presented by Professor Mrs. Beatrice Oguba, Founder and Director of MaCRIB and former Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. The event also highlighted field stories and success cases from rural outreach programs, proving to be an impactful and enlightening experience for our students, who are frontline advocates for community engagement and sensitization on critical aspects of infant development. The program culminated in our institution being recognized as a breastfeeding-supportive institution.
