Scholastica Muogbo writes:

According to Psychology, children learn best in an environment where they feel safe, not scared.

Here's my resumption message to all teachers: Don't be that teacher the students are afraid of. Please.

There are classrooms where students do not understand the subject, but are too afraid to speak. There are schools where students actually behave, but are silently struggling. There are teachers students even respect, but cannot approach.
And I tell you, that is a problem.

Because fear may produce temporary control, but it never produces deep learning.
In fact, psychological studies show that when learners feel anxious or threatened, the brain shifts into a defensive state, reducing their ability to think, ask questions, and retain information.

So when a students are scared of you, they may keep quiet, avoid you, pretend to understand...but they are not truly learning.

Yes, discipline is important. I am very firm with enforcing discipline. I even believe that it takes discipline to succeed.

But let’s be clear, being respected is never the same as being feared.

I know of a school leader who says to students on the assembly ground, “I am not your friend.” If you are not their friend, who are you? 🤔
If they cannot talk to you, or ask you questions, or approach you when they are confused…then who exactly are you to them?

Carl Rogers emphasized, “The facilitation of significant learning rests upon certain attitudinal qualities which exist in the personal relationship between the teacher and the learner.”
In simple terms, connection drives learning.

So, I compiled a quick check for every educator. To check if your students comfortably communicate with you,
check these 5 things:
1. Do your students ask you questions freely?
2. Can they admit they don’t understand without fear?
3. Do they approach you outside class for help?
4. Do they make eye contact or avoid you?
5. Do they speak to you or only respond when called?
(I have explained each of these in the comment section)

You don’t have to choose between being firm and being approachable, you can be both. Because the best teachers are not only
heard, they are also felt.

Let’s raise classrooms where students are not only present but also heard, understood, and empowered.

Do you think fear helps or hinders learning?

P.S: Have you ever watched me lead teacher training and development or teach school improvement and excellence strategies or coach teachers to become more effective and impactful? You need to give it a try. 😌

I'm Muogbo Scholastica, and I advocate for emotionally safe and effective learning environments.

Good Shepherd Sunday… 🐑🧠🌱

Not just as a religious message,
but as a biological and human truth.

In every system that thrives, whether it is a living organism, a classroom, or a community, there is always guidance, coordination, and care. Without it, things fall apart.

In Biology, survival is not by chance. It is by structure, response, and adaptation. Communication of cells. Regulation of systems. Organisms respond to stimuli. Remove coordination, and the organism begins to fail.
The same applies to life.

We all lead in one way or another: at home, in classrooms, in communities. And leadership, at its core, is not control… it is care.

Here is something worth thinking about:
According to global education reports, over 50 million teachers are needed worldwide to meet learning demands. That is not just a gap in numbers;
it is a gap in guidance.
Because where there is no guidance, growth becomes limited.

As Albert Einstein said, “Example isn’t another way to teach, it is the only way to teach.”
And that brings it home…
Because whether we realize it or not,
people are learning from us. Watching us. Responding to us, just like organisms respond to stimuli.

So today, beyond the title of “Good Shepherd,”
I see a deeper message:
Be intentional about how you guide
Be mindful of how you influence
Be responsible for the growth around you

Because sometimes impact is not always loud... it is in the quiet consistency of showing up and doing right.

And this is my conviction:
“In every living system, growth is not accidental; it is guided. And where guidance is absent, decline is inevitable.” — MUOGBO SCHOLASTICA

Do you agree? 🤔

In the beginning, they said the drum of technology beats louder for the men… but the daughters are now dancing to it. 💻🔥

Happy International Girls in ICT Day!!

Today, we do not just celebrate girls, we celebrate voices rising, minds awakening, and a generation rewriting what was once believed to be impossible.

There was a time when people said, “Technology is not for girls.”
But like a seed that refuses to die in dry soil, the girl-child has continued to grow; pushing through stereotypes, breaking barriers, and stepping boldly into the digital world.

Today, girls are not just using technology…
they are building it, shaping it, and leading it.

Yet, the story is not complete.
Globally, women hold only about 25% of jobs in the tech industry, and in many places, they are still less likely to have advanced digital skills compared to men. In a world driven by technology, half of the population is still underrepresented.

That is why this day matters.

The International Telecommunication Union established this day to remind us that girls must not just be consumers of technology but creators, innovators, and leaders.

And the theme for this year says it clearly:
“AI for Development: Girls Shaping the Digital Future.”

As a woman deeply involved in teaching and using ICT, I have seen this transformation firsthand.
I have taught girls who once doubted themselves…
but today, they are confident, skilled, and ready to take their place in the digital world.

Girls are coding.
Girls are designing.
Girls are creating solutions.
And yes, they are making serious moves.

Like Biology teaches us, growth is not accidental; it is a response to the right environment.
When you expose a plant to light, it bends toward it.
When you expose a girl to opportunity, she rises toward it.

But we must do more.
We must:
• Encourage girls to explore ICT early
• Break stereotypes that limit their confidence
• Provide access to tools, training, and mentorship
• Create environments where girls can thrive digitally
Because the future is not waiting… and neither should our girls.

I am open to collaborations
Especially with:
• Schools that want their girls exposed to ICT skills
• Organizations passionate about digital empowerment
• Educators ready to raise confident, tech-driven girls

Let us not just teach Biology…
let us raise girls who will use technology to solve biological, environmental, and global problems.

As Reshma Saujani said:
“Teach girls bravery, not perfection.”
And truly, the digital world does not need perfect girls…
it needs bold, curious, and empowered ones.

So, let me ask you:
How are you helping a girl step into the digital world today? 👇🏼

I'm Scholastica Muogbo , and I am passionate about raising girls who are not afraid to take their place in ICT and in the world. 💜💻🔥
