Sometimes life feels like a tough equation on the board…

You see something like
a + a + a = 9
b + b = a
and then… b = ?

At first glance, it looks confusing. But when you slow down and understand the process, everything begins to make sense.

From the first line, you realize that consistency matters. Doing the same right thing repeatedly brings results. Three “a’s” didn’t argue or compete, they worked together and produced 9.

Then the second line reminds you that some answers depend on others. Growth is connected. What “b” becomes is tied to what “a” already is.

Life works the same way. Your effort, your discipline, your patience… they all add up. And even when you don’t fully see the outcome yet, there’s a solution forming quietly.

So don’t rush the process. Understand it. Trust it. Stay consistent.

Now here’s the question for everyone…

I once sat for a Python exam that was purely mathematical, no shortcuts, no guesswork, just logic and numbers. Interestingly, I came out with a distinction. What makes it even more surprising is that before that moment, I had no prior knowledge of Python.

What carried me through wasn’t experience with the language, it was my foundation in mathematics. That was the difference.

You can learn certain programming languages without a strong mathematical background, especially at the beginner level. But as you grow deeper in tech, you begin to encounter areas where mathematics is not optional, it is essential. Fields like machine learning, data science, and algorithm design rely heavily on concepts such as derivatives dx dy, linear algebra, probability, and more.

Mathematics sharpens your thinking. It trains your mind to break down problems, recognize patterns, and approach solutions with clarity and precision. These are the same skills that define an excellent programmer.

There is a unique advantage that comes with understanding mathematics in the tech world, one that is difficult to fully explain but impossible to ignore. It doesn’t just help you write code, it helps you understand what the code is truly doing.

If you don’t understand the basics of mathematics, the advanced parts will always feel confusing and frustrating. Mathematics is like building a house, without a solid foundation, everything you try to build on top will eventually collapse.

Take time to truly understand the elementary concepts. Learn why formulas work, not just how to use them. Practice simple problems until they become natural to you. These basic ideas are the tools you will rely on when problems become more complex.

Complex mathematics is not difficult because it is impossible to understand, but because it is built on ideas that were not properly learned in the beginning. When your foundation is strong, even the hardest topics become easier to approach.

So don’t rush the process. Master the basics, be patient with yourself, and grow step by step. That is the surest path to confidence and success in mathematics.

As I resume from my long break from mathematics tutorials, it feels great to be back doing what I love, teaching, learning, and exploring the beauty of numbers with my students.
Today in class, after an engaging lesson in mathematics, I decided to leave my students thinking deeply. Before they left, I wrote this question for them:
Was mathematics discovered or invented?
Is mathematics something that has always existed in the universe, waiting for humanity to uncover it?
Or is it a creation of the human mind, developed to help us understand and describe the world around us?
This is more than just a question, it is a doorway into deep thinking, philosophy, and curiosity.
