EID IN ISLAM AND ITS HEALTH BENEFITS
Eid is not merely celebration. Eid is mercy from Allah. Eid is spiritual healing, emotional healing, social healing, and physical well-being for mankind.
After the purification of Ramadan, Allah blesses the believers with Eid as a reward, relaxation, joy, unity, and renewal of faith. Islam is a complete way of life that combines worship with total wellness.
The Prophet ﷺ taught cleanliness, perfume, good appearance, family connection, charity, happiness, and gratitude during Eid. All these have powerful effects upon the body, heart, and mind.
Among the health benefits of Eid in Islamic Medicine are:
• Emotional relaxation after fasting and stress
• Strengthening family and community bond
• Reducing loneliness, sadness, and anxiety
• Increasing gratitude and inner peace
• Promoting healthy social interaction
• Encouraging movement through Eid prayer and visitation
• Reviving hope, happiness, and positive mental health
Islamic Medicine teaches that true healing is not only tablets and hospitals. Real healing begins from the soul, heart, lifestyle, food, environment, and relationship with Allah.
Even the Sunnah foods commonly shared during Eid such as dates, honey, black seed, olive products, natural foods, and moderate eating contain nutritional and medicinal benefits for the body.
Allah says:
“And when I am ill, it is He who cures me.”
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“For every disease there is a cure.”
May Allah accept our worship, heal our hearts, bless our homes with barakah, grant the Ummah peace, and make this Eid a source of mercy, health, and guidance for humanity.

THE FASTING OF THE 9TH OF DHUL-HIJJAH (DAY OF ‘ARAFAH): ISLAMIC AND MEDICAL PERSPECTIVES
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem.
All praise belongs to Allah who blessed the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ with sacred seasons of mercy, forgiveness, purification, and elevation.
Among the greatest days in Islam is the 9th day of Dhul-Hijjah, known as the Day of ‘Arafah. It is a day honored by Allah, witnessed by the angels, and respected by the righteous servants throughout generations.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Fasting on the Day of ‘Arafah, I hope from Allah, expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year.” — Sahih Muslim
This fasting is highly recommended for those who are not performing Hajj. It is not merely abstention from food and drink; rather, it is a spiritual purification, bodily discipline, and emotional renewal.
ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE
The Day of ‘Arafah is a day of: • Tawbah (repentance) • Dhikr (remembrance of Allah) • Du‘a • Humility before Allah • Forgiveness of sins • Spiritual cleansing
It is a day when hearts soften, tears fall, and servants reconnect themselves with their Creator. The righteous predecessors would increase in: • Istighfar • Takbeer • Tahleel • Salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ • Charity and good deeds
One of the greatest supplications on this day is:
“La ilaha illa Allah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer.”
MEDICAL PERSPECTIVE OF FASTING ON THE DAY OF ‘ARAFAH
As an Islamic medicine practitioner, one discovers that the Sunnah of fasting carries tremendous wisdom for the human body.
Modern medical observations now confirm many benefits connected to controlled fasting, including:
BODY DETOXIFICATION During fasting, the digestive system is allowed to rest temporarily. The body then focuses more on repair and removal of certain accumulated wastes and toxins.
BLOOD SUGAR REGULATION Short fasting periods may assist the body in improving insulin sensitivity and controlling excessive sugar fluctuation when practiced properly.
REDUCTION OF INFLAMMATION Research continues to show that controlled fasting may help reduce some inflammatory activities within the body.
MENTAL CLARITY Many fast

“Turn to Allah in repentance all together, O believers, so that you may succeed.” — Surah al-Nūr (24:31)

TAWHEED IN HEALING — ALL HEALING COMES FROM ALLAH
One of the greatest foundations of Islamic medicine is Tawheed.
We believe that Allah alone is Ash-Shaafee — The One who grants healing.
Medicines, herbs, treatments, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle are only means. True cure and healing come from Allah سبحانه وتعالى alone.
As Muslims, we combine:
• trust in Allah
• beneficial treatment
• healthy lifestyle
• Du’a
• patience
• reliance upon Him
The Prophet (pbuh) said:
“Allah has not sent down a disease except that He has also sent down its cure.”
Islamic medicine is not only about treating the body.
It is also about strengthening Iman, discipline, and connection with Allah.
May Allah grant healing to every sick person and place barakah in beneficial knowledge and treatment.

A MOTHER IS THE FIRST CAREGIVER OF HEALTH IN THE HOME
Islam honors mothers greatly.
Beyond love and compassion, mothers also play an important role in preserving the wellbeing of children through:
• nutrition
• cleanliness
• emotional care
• healthy habits
• sleep routines
• spiritual upbringing
Many lifelong health habits begin from childhood environments.
The Prophet ﷺ taught mercy, balance, cleanliness, and responsibility within the family.
Modern health science also confirms that early childhood care strongly affects:
• immunity
• emotional development
• eating habits
• stress regulation
• long-term wellbeing
Healthy homes build healthier generations.
Islamic medicine is not only treatment after illness.
It is prevention, discipline, mercy, and wisdom from the beginning.
May Allah strengthen all righteous mothers and caregivers upon goodness and beneficial knowledge
