Last Friday, our College students continued their Skills Acquisition Programme with another exciting session of practical learning! ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ’ก

Week 2 was all about building on what they started, learning by doing and developing skills that can go beyond the classroom. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

From hands-on practice to teamwork, creativity and new discoveries, our students are gradually gaining the confidence and practical abilities needed to navigate a changing world. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿš€

STUDENTS' ORIENTATION DAY

On Thursday, our Junior Secondary School (JSS) section held an orientation seminar for both our new and returning students, setting the tone for a purposeful and successful academic session. The session provided an opportunity to remind students about the rules and regulations of the school, while encouraging the values and attitudes needed to thrive both academically and personally.

Discipline, hard work and integrityโ€”one of the values at the heart of Nurul-Islamโ€”the importance of showing respect and maintaining good conduct, were discussed and students were reminded that success in school goes beyond good grades. ๐Ÿ’š

There was also a strong emphasis on saying NO to insolence, indiscipline and bullying, encouraging students to treat one another with kindness, respect and dignity. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿฝ

And to our new students, welcome to the Nurul-Islam family! ๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽ’ We are excited to have you with us and we look forward to seeing you learn, grow and make wonderful memories.

๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ“š WHO SAID LEARNING STOPS AT THE TEXTBOOK?

At Nurul-Islam, we believe education should give children more than answers for examinations, it should give them knowledge for life. ๐ŸŒโœจ

And sometimes, that means learning something as important as how to sing your National Anthemโ€ฆ in another language! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

Our French teacher recently took our students through the French version of the Nigerian National Anthem, and honestly, watching them learn it was a beautiful reminder of what education can do.

Because we don't want our children to simply know their country, we want them to understand, respect and appreciate it, while developing the confidence to engage with the wider world.

So yes, they can sing the anthem in Englishโ€ฆ
Now, French has entered the chat! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ

๐ŸŒ PREPARING OUR CHILDREN FOR A CHANGING WORLD! ๐Ÿ› ๏ธโœจ

We have taken another step towards preparing our learners for life beyond the classroom with the launch of our first compulsory skills acquisition programme for college students.

In a world that continues to evolve rapidly, education must go beyond textbooks and examinations. Our learners need practical skills, creativity, confidence and the ability to adapt to the opportunities and challenges of the future.

This programme is designed to expose our students to valuable skills that can support their personal development, encourage self-reliance and help them become more prepared for the world beyond school. ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿค๐Ÿฝ. These skills includes but not limited to Culinary Skills, Fashion Design, Photography and Videograohy, Electronic Design, Captions repair and Software installations amongst others.

Students are required to choose one skill and these skills are taught on weekly basis. At Nurul-Islam, we are not only preparing students for the next examination, we are preparing them for the world they will inherit. ๐ŸŒโœจ

Today, our newly elected prefects were officially inaugurated in the presence of the entire student body, marking the beginning of their journey as student leaders. ๐ŸŽ“With their fellow students watching, the prefects took the Oath of Service, formally accepting the responsibilities that come with their new positions.

This was more than receiving a badge or title, it was a commitment to serve with discipline, lead by example, uphold the values of the school and represent their fellow students with dignity.
