To the government of Cross River State
Environmental Preservation in Response to Recurrent Flooding, Erosion and Rain-Induced Destruction.
Your Excellency,
We at Kingdom Leadership Academy write with deep concern over the increasing cases of flooding, gully erosion, and property destruction currently affecting communities across Cross River State. From Calabar metropolis to Obudu, Ogoja, and the riverine areas, heavy rainfall is no longer just a seasonal event. It has become a threat to lives, farmlands, roads, schools, and the health of our people.
As a leadership institution committed to nation-building, stewardship, and the wellbeing of citizens, we respectfully present the following advisory for immediate and long-term action.
1. Strengthen Drainage, Watershed and Erosion Control Infrastructure: Most urban flooding in Calabar and other towns is caused by blocked drains, poor town planning, and building on waterways. We advise the state government to:
1. Conduct an emergency audit and desilting of all major drainages before peak rainfall months.
2. Enforce the Cross River State Physical Planning Law to stop construction on flood plains and natural water channels.
3. Partner with ecological funds and NDDC to fast-track concrete gully erosion control projects in Obudu, Bekwarra, Yala, and other vulnerable LGAs.
2. Invest in Climate-Smart Communication and Early Warning Systems: People cannot prepare for what they do not know. Environmental communication must move from reaction to prevention. We recommend:
1. A statewide campaign using radio, TV, town criers, WhatsApp, and faith leaders to educate citizens on waste disposal, deforestation, and flood preparedness.
2. Collaboration with NIMET and NEMA to set up community-based early warning systems in flood-prone areas.
3. Training of local leaders to become "Environmental Champions" who disseminate verified information and discourage harmful practices like bush burning and sand mining.
3. Restore and Protect Our Natural Defenses:
Nature is our first line of defense. The destruction of mangroves, forests, and vegetation increases runoff and erosion. We urge government to:
1. Enforce anti-deforestation laws and promote community forest management, especially in the rainforest belt of Northern Cross River.
2. Launch a "One Million Trees for Cross River" initiative across schools, churches, and LGAs to stabilize soil and absorb flood water.
3. Protect wetlands and mangroves in the coastal areas as natural flood buffers.
4. Integrate Environmental Education into Governance and Schools: Preservation must be taught to be sustained. We propose that environmental stewardship be mainstreamed into the curriculum of primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions. Civil servants and political appointees should also undergo quarterly training on climate adaptation and sustainable development. When leaders and citizens understand that "the land is the Lord's," we will treat it with more care.
5. Establish a Cross River State Environmental Response Fund: Beyond annual budgets, a dedicated fund will help government respond quickly to erosion sites, displaced persons, and post-flood recovery. This fund should be transparent, with involvement of faith-based organizations, NGOs, and community leaders to ensure accountability.
Conclusion: Your Excellency, the rains will continue to fall, but destruction does not have to follow. Proverbs 21:5 says, "The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance." With deliberate planning, enforcement, education, and community partnership, Cross River State can turn this crisis into an opportunity to model environmental leadership for the Niger Delta region.
Kingdom Leadership Academy stands ready to partner with government through advocacy, community sensitization, and volunteer mobilization. We pray for wisdom and strength as you lead. May Cross River remain green, safe, and prosperous for generations to come.
Yours faithfully,
Kingdom Leadership Academy.

A man who does not know, but claims he does is a fool, Shun him.
A man who does not know but wishes to learn is a student, educate him.
But he who knows the way, show others the way and follow the way is a leader, Follow him.

A Time to Mourn, A Time to Stand Together.
We woke up this morning to news that hit like a ton of bricks, the collapse of a three-storey hostel at Amaokpala in Orumba North LGA, Anambra State. A building that should have been a safe haven for students of Oko Polytechnic became, in a heartbeat, a house of sorrow.
Our hearts are heavy.
When a roof falls on the heads of those who are supposed to be building their future, it feels as though the ground has been pulled from beneath all of us. Dreams that were just beginning to take flight have been cut down mid-air. Parents who sent their children out with prayers and hope are now left wringing their hands in agony.
This is not just a building that crumbled, it is lives, aspirtions, and a community’s peace of mind that have come crashing down.
To the students, their families, and everyone at Oko Polytechnic: I know no words can paper over the cracks right now. Grief has a way of sitting on your chest like a heavy stone. But please know this, you do not walk through this valley alone. We are standing shoulder to shoulder with you. We are holding the fort with you in prayers, in thoughts, and in whatever support we can offer.
We salute the rescue teams, volunteers, and first responders who have been burning the midnight oil, digging through rubble with bare hands and brave hearts. You are the light in this dark hour. You remind us that even when structures fail, humanity does not. May your efforts bear fruit and may every soul still trapped be brought out safely.
This tragedy also holds up a mirror we cannot afford to look away from. It is a clarion call that we can no longer sweep structural integrity under the carpet. We must dot the i’s and cross the t’s on building standards, inspections, and accountability.
To the injured, may healing come to you like morning after a long night. May strength return to Courts.

Leading From the Middle: The Power Nobody Talks About
Leading from the middle is leading without a title that commands, without a budget that buys, and without authority that compels. It’s the art of moving people when you don’t technically own them. The Middle Is Where Reality Lives, for executives set vision, frontline teams execute but the middle translates.
You sit between policy and people. Between the board’s strategy and the community’s truth. Between funding and delivery.
That’s uncomfortable. But it’s also leverage. You see what the top can’t see, and you hear what the bottom can’t say.
We do all these at Kingdom Leadership Academy
