At just 13, Bilyaminu lost his father and sustained a spinal cord injury that left him physically impaired. Growing up in Gidam-Maitibi, Katsina State, where access to education is already a steep climb, his future seemed uncertain.
Yet, he refused to let hardship define him. Against financial and societal barriers, he completed secondary school and dared to dream of higher education. That dream became reality when he was awarded a scholarship through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Pan-Atlantic University (PAU).
Today, Bilyaminu is thriving—attending classes, participating in tech conferences, and pursuing his dream of becoming an engineer. More importantly, he is giving back: supporting his family and inspiring other young people with disabilities in his community.
His journey is proof that disability is never a limitation on human potential. With access, opportunity, and support, barriers can become bridges to transformation.

What happens when traditional rulers step into the classroom?
Pan-Atlantic University hosted respected leaders from the Ibeju Kingdom for an insightful session on Indigenous Knowledge and Nation-Building.
Our students sat with real traditional rulers and got raw, first-hand insights into culture, governance, identity, and heritage - straight from the custodians themselves.
One of our faculty members, Dr. Albert Onobhayedo, described the course as “a rescue mission” — and you could feel why. At a time when many young people are losing touch with their roots, moments like this bring them back home.
Who else believes we need more of this kind of education in Nigeria?
