Never look down on one's humble beginning, case in point the story of how Google came to be.
Google was officially launched in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin to market Google Search, which has become the most used web-based search engine. Page and Brin, students at Stanford University in California, developed a search algorithm at first known as "BackRub" in 1996.
The search engine soon proved successful and the expanding company moved several times, finally settling at Mountain View in 2003. This marked a phase of rapid growth, with the company making its initial public offering in 2004 and quickly becoming one of the world's largest media companies.
The company launched Google News in 2002, Gmail in 2004, Google Maps in 2005, Google Chrome in 2008, and the social network known as Google+ in 2011, in addition to many other products. In 2015, Google became the main subsidiary of the holding company Alphabet Inc.

Rukayat is a versatile and experienced software engineer who has been avidly interested in solving problems from a tender age. Her interests in solving problems and applying technology to impact the society led her to study engineering and consequently, dive into programming and software development.
She is currently making waves as a software engineer with Influitive – a Canadian based marketing technology firm. She recently completed the Andela fellowship program where she worked as a Full Stack Software Engineer and Technical Team lead; collaborating with other engineers in varying team sizes to build scalable software solutions.
At Andela, she helped co-found and co-lead the Andela’s Ladies-in-Tech group – an initiative to support women in tech in and out of Andela. She is also a co-organizer for the Lagos Women in Machine Learning and Data Science Group.
