7 TIPS TO HELP PARENTS CHOOSE A QUALITY PRESCHOOL/CRECHE FOR THEIR CHILDREN

How can parents determine the best preschool for their children. Below are 7 tips to consider:

1. QUALIFICATION OF CAREGIVERS

It is very important to pay close attention to the persons that will be caring for your child. The relevance of the qualification of the caregiver should not be overlooked by you the parent to be rest assured your child is in safe hands and observe how the caregiver communicates with children. You can only get this information when you pay a visit to the school.

2. RATIO OF CAREGIVERS TO CHILDREN

Size of a class, what is the maximum number of children per class. How many caregivers are in each class? These questions amongst others are what you should ask before choosing a preschool/creche. Children need adequate attention, therefore, one caregiver or teacher should not be in a class of ten children and there should not be more than 5 children in a room depending on the size of the room.

Free playing has been proven to be one of the best ways for pre-schoolers to learn. Playing and physical activities stimulates brain growth and enhances early development. With the COVID-19 pandemic still rampant in the country, parents and guardians should look for facilities to ensure their child or ward’s safety. Are the school managements complying with the safety rules setup by the government before resumption? Are the other students and teachers going to be strictly abiding by set rules, day to day? These are also the questions you should ask.

5. ENVIRONMENT

You should look for a hygienic environment. Are the facilities clean and orderly? Are gutters covered? Is the playground safe with safe outdoor toys? Are the teachers and caregivers clean and tidy? Overall does the environment seem clean and friendly?

6. SECURITY

Ensure that the school is security conscious. A good school will be strict about their security. They should typically only allow parents or caregivers with ID cards to pick up the children from school. Make sure you understand their security policy and that it focuses on making the child’s safety a priority.

7. PROXIMITY

Is it better to choose one closest to your home? Or will it be more convenient to have one near your office?
