NOTICE OF CHANGES IN WASSCE DEPARTMENTAL SUBJECTS

To all concerned parents/guardians, schools and students.

This notice serves to inform you of the significant changes in the departmental subjects for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination *(WASSCE).*

The changes are as follows for secondary school students in line with the *WASSCE* exams:

*NEW DEPARTMENTAL CLASSIFICATIONS:*

- ART Department is now *HUMANITIES.*

* COMMERCIAL Department (formerly Social Science) is now *BUSINESS.*

* SCIENCES Department retains its name.

*SUBJECT OFFER PROGRAMMES*

Candy are required to select subjects from the following programmes:

1. *SCIENCES*
2. *HUMANITIES* (formerly ART)
3. *BUSINESS* (formerly Social Science)

*AVAILABLE EXAMINATION SUBJECTS*

Candidates are required to select *six (6) subjects and three (3) compulsory subjects.*

2. Further Mathematics
3. Agricultural Science
4. Biology
5. Chemistry
6. Health Education
7. Physical Education
8. Physics
9. Livestock Farming
10. Technical Drawing
11. Computer Hardware and GSM Repairs

13. Beauty and Cosmetology

*HUMANITIES:*

1. Christian Religious Studies
2. Government
3. Nigerian History
4. Islamic Studies
5. Literature in English
6. Arabic
7. Hausa Language

*BUSINESS:*

1. Commerce
2. Accounting
3. Marketing

All candidates are advised to take note of these changes and select their subjects accordingly during the registration process.

*What is JUPEB*
Joint University Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) is an A-level program introduced by University of Lagos (UNILAG) on December 2013 and formally established in April 2014 and adopted by 10 partnering universities and today it's been accepted in over 95% universities in Nigeria

*The Good Thing About JUPEB*
JUPEB is a 10 months program after which the successful students will gain admission into *200level* in any university of their choice except A.B.U. ZARIA and the reason being that A.B.U have their own equivalent program called I J.M.B

*How JUPEB Works*
JUPEB is an alternative means that assures a successful candidates admission into 200 level instead of JAMB. JUPEB grade the success of every candidates with alphabet which ranges from A - F, and JUPEB call this alphabets points.
The total points is 15 which JUPEB adds 1 to for any candidates who comes out successful without F grade

*JUPEB Grades/Points*
In JUPEB, students academic efforts are interpreted into grades and points at the end of the program. The grading system and it's calculation is as illustrated below:
A -->5points--> Excellent
B --> 4points --> V good
C --> 3points --> Good
D --> 2points --> Merit
E --> 1point --> Pass
F --> 0 point--> Fail
For example a student who gets a C grade in all the 3 subjects registered has his/her point calculated below:
C C C = 3+3+3 +1(bonus) = 10 points.
Thus, the maximum point a candidate can score is calculated below:
A A A = 5+5+5+1(bonus) = 16 points

*JUPEB Program Requirements*
For JUPEB all you need is just your O/level result to register and even if you don't have it yet, it's not a case to worry since in our study center (zenith of success) we also register candidates for O/level exams atan affordable price of which success is our language
