Gritwel Child Development Research and Resource Center (CDRRC) is a research based subsidiary of Gritwel group; a social and multinational childcare company, headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. The main objective of Gritwel CDRRC is to develop an extensive knowledgebase and wide breadth of intellectual resources on child development, through cutting edge multidisciplinary and observational research studies.
Position Child Development Research Specialist Entry Level + Science background Fulltime
Location This position is based at the Ifako Ijaiye Center of Gritwel Earlychildhood School
Reporting line You will report directly to the Director of CDRRC at Gritwel Research HQ, in The Netherlands
Type of contract Your work contract will be temporary for the first 6months. There is an option to extend to a permanent position, based on key performance indications.

Responsibilities The responsibilities for this position are categorized as below:
Research activities
• You will play a lead role in initiating and coordinating observational & scientific research activities on child development at our Earlychildhood centers
• Propose relevant research topics on child development, based on practical observations from day-to-day activities and challenges facing the child development industry. You will Propose at least one research topic every month with a fully written professional academic abstract
• Initiate strategy and methodology to collect research data from daily operations from assigned Earlychildhood centers. Typical types of research data includes Children developmental milestones, Observational video clips on children plays and environment, cognition development etc. Our facility is equipped with advanced multi-media devices for observational studies, and research cameras to capture real-time behaviors of children. All devices are connected to a central observation booth.
• You will complete one full technical research paper / Manuscript (up to 2000 words) every quarter, and publish in a renown and respected child development Journal
• Must make plans to present one technical paper at least once in 2 years in a local or international conference on child development. We will fully sponsor your participation at conferences.
Technical supports to other Business divisions
• You will provide technical supports and intellectual insights to other education based business subsidiaries in Gritwel group. Such supports could include developing and updating educational curriculums and other technical documents required for day-to-day activities at various centers. You will also give technical advises, and support our education business divisions on technical sales.
Organize conference, Workshops and Technical trainings
• You will engage in supporting professional development activities of educators which includes organizing training, workshop events and international conference planning on child development and teaching to build a high-performing group of individuals.
• You will establish platforms for interdisciplinary dialogue among global community about child development experience
Requirements • Must be at least 25 years of age, and authorized to work in Nigeria.
• Candidate must have a science background and hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in fields such as child development, early childhood education, psychology etc.
• Candidate must be highly motivated to conduct research studies on child development, with intentions to proceed to obtain Ph.D. degree on Earlychildhood related subjects
• Must possess a working knowledge of Research methods and report writing techniques. Practical knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and statistical tools (E.g. SPSS) are strongly required.
• Must be able to Plan, organize, coordinate and control large group events and technical meetings.
• Must be able to prepare and deliver oral presentations.
• Personal qualifications as required: Emotional maturity, willingness to cooperate with the aims of the program, respect for children and adults, flexibility, patience, good personal hygiene, and physical and mental health which does not interfere with responsibilities; and Must be reliable, honest, and trustworthy, with good ethical behaviors.
• Must have excellent organizational and leadership skills, with ability to plan, organize, and multitask with minimal supervision
• Excellent command of English is essential
• Successful experience working in a team setting,
Working hours The normal working hours is from 9am to 5pm, from Monday to Friday. Occasionally training/meeting may be organized for Saturdays.
Salary package Monthly salary is ~ NGN 60,000. Holiday allowance will be paid, calculated as 2% of yearly gross salary and will be paid in December.

Responsibilities The responsibilities for this position are categorized as below:
Educational operations Supervisor / Leadership roles
• The center Manager is the school’s leading support staff professional and works as part of the senior team to ensure that the school meets its educational and business aims.
• You will be responsible for overseeing, directing and implementing educational services for children, together with a team of other educators.
• You will be responsible for providing professional leadership and management of other educators to enhance their effectiveness in order to achieve improved standards of learning and achievement in the school.
• You will work with educators to use and develop their skills and abilities in planning and carrying out educational activities. You will also lead and manage all casual school support staff. E.g. Drivers, logistics & maintenance team etc.
• You will guide and facilitate safe activities of the children, including: daily indoor and outdoor play activities.
• You will promote the highest standards of business ethics within the administrative function of the school and strategically ensure the most effective use of resources in support of the school’s benefits
• You will be required to complete and submit required forms and records in a timely and accurate fashion, e.g., lesson plans, time sheets, meal reports etc.
• You will maintain a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child, including weekly observations in each development area. Oversights are:
a. Review teachers' lesson plans, schedules, room arrangements and portfolio assessments
b. Deliver pre-service and monthly in-service training sessions to teaching staff; Lead responsibility for parent involvement in education services
c. Provide a minimum of two child development workshops to parents every quarter;
d. Identify and prioritize materials and equipment needed in classrooms and playgrounds, and coordinate with director in making purchases;
e. Organize staff training and meetings, and board and parent meetings as requested
Financial resource management & Business development
• You will be responsible for monthly Financial Resource Management of the center, managing enrollment and revenue accounts. You will maintain a strategic financial plan that will indicate the trends and requirements of the school development plan and will forecast future year budgets. Monthly enrollment and sales target will be set for you. Together with the director, you will propose and implement a working strategy to improve the number of enrolled kids.
• Part of your monthly salary will be calculated based on your contributions to improve enrollments at the center. You will also be responsible for ensuring parents satisfactions. You may be required to maximize income through other activities such as training and workshops.
• Prepare and submit monthly business reports
Facility Management/ Health & Safety management
1. Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment. Assure that classroom equipment, furniture, materials, and supplies are properly maintained and safely stored;
2. Use the playground as an extension of the classroom; assures that the playground is safe;
3. Assist in conducting the daily health and environment checklist;
Requirements • Must be at least 30 years of age, and authorized to work in Nigeria.
• Candidate must hold educational certificate in early childhood education or related subjects with at least 10 years of working experience in an elementary school setting. Candidates with other non- educational backgrounds, but with at least 15 years experience in Earlychildhood education may also apply.
• Must have a working knowledge of the British EYFS educational curriculum and Nigeria Pre-school curriculum

Reporting line You will report directly to the Center Manager and work together in a team comprising of senior and experienced educators. The Center manager will be responsible for your monthly performance evaluation.

Responsibilities You will implement educational/development program for small individual groups of children, typically within the age category of 3months – 4years. You will organize and supervise structured and unstructured plays, while ensuring safety of children. You will create a stimulating atmosphere where children can thrive and develop optimally while followed our in-house themes and curriculum. Additional tasks for this position are summarized below:
• Receive children from parents at drop off.
• Administer children daily routine document
• Plan educational and development activities in line with class themes
• Active supervision of the children’s - indoor and outdoor play/activities
• Place the children down for naps and bedtime and ensuring safety of the children under care.
• Together with the nutritionist, you will plan and prepare meals, and feed, the children.
• Participate in annual progress report meeting with parents on the well - being of their children.
• Supervise to change diapers and potty train the children
Requirements • Must be at least 25 years of age , and authorized to work in Nigeria
• Candidate must hold educational certificate in early childhood education or related subjects. Candidates with other non-related educational backgrounds, but with at least 7 years experience in Earlychildhood development may also apply.
