I was telling my JS 3 students the importance of summary skills the other day despite that we now AI tools that do summary quite well.

I took a family member to hospital recently. When a doctor asks you how you have been feeling since the symptoms began 2 days ago. It is not a time to begin talking about how the damaged electricity transformer has made you sleep in darkness! He wants you to say ALL the relevant points without taking all the time. If you frustrate your doctor with needless stories, you may not get the best service from him.

Of if you call police emergency number about a crime being committed in your area, the responder doesn't need to hear, about how afraid you were when the robbers arrived in your street. They want to know the relevant information about the situation: your location, the actions of the criminals, estimate of their number.

No AI tool can do that for you!

By the way, Summary writing (or speaking) means shortening a passage or experience while communicating only the important points.
