11TH PROVOST OF COMUI ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE WORLD FEDERATION FOR MEDICAL EDUCATION
Professor Ẹmiọla Oluwabunmi Ọlapade-Ọlaọpa, the 11th Provost of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria is the President-elect of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). Professor Ọlapade-Ọlaọpa secured an overwhelming mandate to lead the world body for the next four years commencing in January 2027 at the Executive Committee Meeting of WFME which took place at the Marriot in Lagos on March 24 and 25, 2026.

COLLEGE OF MEDICINE, UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN CONGRATULATES PROFESSOR GEORGINA NJIDEKA ODAIBO ON HER ELECTION AS THE VICE PRESIDENT (AFRICA) OF THE WORLD SOCIETY FOR VIROLOGY (WSV)
Professor Georgina Njideka Odaibo has been elected the Vice President (Africa) of the World Society for Virology (WSV). The WSV was established in 2017 with the overall mission of strengthening research on viruses affecting humans, animals, plants and other organisms. The WSV’s main objectives are to connect virologists worldwide, to provide educational resources, and to support a network of scientific collaboration among virologists, with a goal of helping members to advance their careers and to obtain funding, resources, and recognition for their achievements.

KEY STAKEHOLDERS TOUR T.Y. DANJUMA COMUI STUDENTS’ BUILDING PROJECT
On Thursday, February 19, 2026, the Provost of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (COMUI), Professor T. O. Ogundiran, FAS alongside some members of the College Executive Committee; the immediate past Provost, Professor Olayinka O. Omigbodun and members of the CoMUI/ICOMAA Hostel Building Committee, headed by the Co-Chairperson, Professor Gbemisola Oke, received a delegation led by Mrs. Vicky I. Falope, former Permanent Secretary of the Oyo State Government, who was in the company of Venerable O. O. Olubodun and Mrs. Olufunmilola Fagbamiye. The visit was organised to assess progress on the 88-room students’ hostel project sponsored by Lieutenant General T. Y. Danjuma.

COMUI EXCO VISITS HOSTELS BUILDING SITE
The Provost of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Professor T. O. Ogundiran FAS, led members of the College Executive Committee on an inspection of the students’ hostel building project on Monday, 9 February 2026. The visit formed part of the College leadership’s continued oversight of key infrastructure projects aimed at improving student welfare and strengthening the academic environment within the College of Medicine axis.
