Report/Resolutions of the General Meeting of Liberty Academy Old Students Association held at the school hall on Sunday 28th February, 2016.Tagged : ' Reunion For Positive Reformations'
Meeting started at exactly 2:00pm with an opening prayer by Pastor Muyiwa Adeyemi (1982 Set) ,after which Mrs Osinkolu-Jeje Sola(SSO) (1979Set) led those in attendance in singing the school's anthem.
About 100 Old students graced the occasion with participants ranging from 1974,75,76,77,78,79,80,81,82,83,84,85,88,93,2000,2001,2002,2003,2004,2005,2008,2009,2010 ,2011 ,2012 and 2013.
The meeting was exhilarating and rejuvenating for all members in attendance as we gather in an ambience atmosphere filled with love and loads of fun; members were so happy seeing one another again after many years; members used the forum to reunite and network while we simultaneously discuss on how to rekindle the lost glory of our great school, the presence of Elder Lateef Oshinowo (Former Bursar and a brother to the proprietress of the school), some very senior Old Students like Barr Benson Akalume(1974set), Alhaji Kola Alao( 1976 set),Dr Veronica Osaghae(1978 Set) to mention but just a few of many other old students made the gathering worthwhile and added glamour and humour to the gathering.
In summary,the reunion was indeed a memorable one,it was action instigating,thought provoking and positive decision generating.
The following are the excerpts/resolutions reached after much considerations and deliberations:
1)Members in attendance recognised and appreciated the voluntary donations of 16 old students that raised a sum of 520,000naira( detail of income and expenditure are contained in the financial report presented at the meeting)for the hall renovation thus making the hall to be in better state as juxtaposed to how it was at the last December 2015 meeting, also the passion and influence of Alhaji Muraina (1981set) a Staff of CBN was highly commended and eulogized for ensuring that CBN intervention fund is made available towards renovation of some parts in the school ,members thereby challenged and encouraged one another to donate towards completion of the hall renovation and to also use their influence and affluence to facilitate good projects and programmes for the school.
A sum of 1million naira was estimated to be needed to complete the hall renovation this includes quotation received for PVC ceiling, Iron Windows,Tile Flooring ,Generating set, Sound system etc. Members home and abroad are admonish to be part of the completion by donating materials or money according to their capacity and capability as no amount is too small to donate.

2) On the agenda of Constitution hearing and adoption; members present unanimously agree after much considerations and deliberations that membership should be opened to all interested people who at one point or the other passed through our great school,has a record in the school, can be identified by members of the acclaimed set and might not necessarily mean that the person duly completed his or her education in our school , once someone can be said to have passed through our school as a student he/she is a full member of our association and its liable to enjoy all th benefit and priviledges as a full member, Interest was strongly emphasized as criteria for membership.Membership categories was divided into three(3)
1) Full Members are those who have records of having passed through our great school as a student
2) Associate Membership is open to all full members spouses
3) Honourary Membership is open to current principal of the school and to those who are deemed to have meritoriously served the association in one capacity or the other,the constitution gives a
Members also unanimously agree that we make our motto " Reunion For Positive Reformations "
3 ) Worthy of also mentioning at the meeting was the informative and educative health talk delivered by one of us who is a renowned Medical Doctor and a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons -Dr T.G Yekeen(1982 set) on how to live healthily; eating well,regular exercise,at least 6 hours non interrupted sleep , being careful with consumption of natural /herbal concoctions and periodic health assessment was strongly advised.
4) On the agenda of completion of our hall renovation and donation towards renovation of other structures inside the school, Alhaji Kola Alao (1976set) assured members present that he will get in touch with appropriate government and non governmental agencies to ensure that one new building is built with at least 6 classrooms,he also assured members present that he will continue reaching out to members of his 1976 set and something big will be unanimously done by them soon.
Barr. Benson Akhalume(1974 set) assured members present that he will use his links,influence and affluence to reach out to NGO's that can donate good books to the library and laboratory equipments, he also promised to send an undisclosed amount to the association's account by March 2016 ending.
Mr Kayode Julius Popoola (1980 set) on behalf of 1980 set promised a donation of 100,000 naira to be paid to the association account within 24hours.
Dr T.G Yekeen (1982 set) promised to donate a 7.5 KVA generator for the school before the end of March 2016 after which Chief John Obiku (1982 set) on behalf of 1982 set members assured those present that his set of 1982 will change the window of the hall with good quality iron sheet.
5) The responsibility of organising an epoch making,of befitting magnitude and auspicious 50th Anniversary Ceremony was saddled on a 12-Man Committee members consisting of very distinguished and illustrious old students home and abroad; they are to come up with the exact date the event will hold in October 2016, draw up features/line up events for the celebration ,venue, put in place strategies for mobilisation of our members home and in diaspora to attend and also get in touch with relevant eminent personalities in public and private sectors ,captain of industries , government functionaries etc, ex-LIBSACAD Principals and Teaching and non teaching staff etc who are to expected to attend the programme ,the committee will also perform other necessary functions towards ensuring a glamorous and hitch free event. The Committee can at their discretion select sub-committee from members of the association e.g Welfare committee, Award committee, Logistics and planning, Publicity and Mobilization Committee e.t.c as neccessary in the effective discharge of their responsibility. Members home and abroad are encouraged to start forwarding all recommendations in the above regard to Members of the golden jubilee celebration committee, listed below:

6) On the Next meeting date,our previous unanimous agreement of holding meeting every last Sunday of every two month was also agreed upon at the meeting and next meeting date will therefore be Sunday 24th April, 2016 by 1pm in the school hall.
Some members present suggested various ways on how we can improve the academic standard of alma mata as well as ensure security of the school pending when the perimeter fence will be done,all were well noted for prompt action.
Meeting ended at about 5:05 pm with a closing prayer by Alhaji Kabiru Busari (1982 Set) and we took group photographs.
