Today, the entire St. Joseph Catholic Secondary School, Ibadan community gathered in thanksgiving to God for His unfailing love, protection, guidance, and abundant blessings throughout the 2025/2026 academic session.
During the Holy Mass, Rev. Fr. Charles Olabamiji, OSJ, delivered a thought-provoking homily on the theme, "What Kind of Christian/Student Are You?" Drawing from the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1–23), he challenged our students to examine the condition of their hearts and to strive to be like the good soil that receives God's word, nurtures it, and bears lasting fruit.
He identified four categories of Christians and students:
• The Careless Christian/Student – One who hears God's Word but pays little attention to it, allowing it to be easily taken away.
• The Superficial Christian/Student – One who receives God's Word with excitement but lacks deep roots and quickly falls away when faced with challenges.
• The Distracted Christian/Student – One whose heart is overwhelmed by worldly cares, pleasures, and distractions, preventing God's Word from bearing fruit.
• The Good Christian/Student – One who listens attentively, understands God's Word, lives by it, and produces lasting fruits through good character, obedience, and excellence.
He reminded everyone that true Christian students are known not only by what they hear but by how they live through obedience, discipline, faith, integrity, and love.
As we bring this academic session to a close, we give all glory to God for His faithfulness and pray for His continued protection and guidance over our students, staff, and parents during the holiday and beyond.
