Best performing graduating students.

Not sure we can get ALL of these right, but they're good advice! I especially like: "Don't nag. If you do I will have to protect myself by appearing deaf."

Growing up, my bio dad would always say, “children should be seen and not heard”. *as a way to quiet us kids, whenever we would make too much noise around guests.

We were supposed to be more like fixtures, or accessories, than people.

We were there to make our parents look good. To give our parents something to brag about. Or, to just stay out of the way- “be seen and not heard”.

As a kid, I was too afraid to stand up for myself. But, as an adult, I am adamantly breaking those generational chains. Not only for myself, but my children, and future generations, as well.

I make sure that my kids are given a safe environment where they can thrive.

They can learn to speak their minds, appropriately.

They can learn to engage in conversations with people of all kinds, and ages.

They can learn how to advocate for themselves, and learn that their opinions and voice matters- from a young age. Because their voice DOES MATTER.

When we break down our kids, we raise broken adults.

But, when we raise thoughtful, strong, confident, generous, creative, independent children, we raise the most solid, well rounded, adults who can actually contribute to society.

Children are not only people, but they are the most innocent and pure version that humans get. There is so much we can learn from children. And, the very least we owe them is respect.

Children should be seen AND heard (just as any other human should be).
