The "curse of knowledge" , also called the "curse of expertise or expert's curse" , is a cognitive bias that occurs when a person who has specialized knowledge assumes that others share in that knowledge.

For example, in a classroom setting, teachers may struggle if they cannot put themselves in the position of the student. A knowledgeable professor might no longer remember the difficulties that a student faces when learning a new subject. This curse of knowledge also explains the danger behind thinking about student learning based on what seems best to faculty members, as opposed to what has been verified with students.

Two related biases are the false consensus bias and the hindsight bias.

People typically overestimate how many people hold the same opinions as them. This is called the "false consensus effect".

"The hindsight bias" is the tendency of people to overestimate how well they could have predicted the future, given knowledge of what has happened.

Sexually induced sneezing or *x sneeze is a phenomenon characterized by sneezing during or**sm or s*xual arousal.

The person experiences sneezing as a result of s*xual thoughts, arousal, in*******se, or or**sm.

Both men and women are affected by the phenomenon.

Mahmood Bhutta , an otorhinolaryngologist at John Radcliffe Hospital, states that s*xually induced sneezing may be genetically determined, and may result from the way the central nervous system is wired:

[I think this reflex demonstrates evolutionary relics in the wiring of a part of the nervous system called the autonomic nervous system. This is the part beyond our control, which controls things like [...] heart rate and the amount of light let in by our pupils. Sometimes the signals in this system get crossed.]

Bhutta also states it is possible the sneezing response could be genetic. Nasal decongestants may help prevent s*xually induced sneezing.

International Left-Handers Day — August 13

Did you know that approximately 10% of the world's population is left-handed?

International Left-Handers Day was first observed in 1976 to celebrate left-handed people and, importantly, to raise awareness of the challenges they face in a world largely designed for right-handed people.

Think about everyday things such as scissors, desks, writing instruments, computer mice and certain tools. Many are designed with right-handed users in mind, meaning left-handed people often have to adapt.

The day therefore goes beyond simply celebrating being a “ lefty.” It reminds us that being different does not mean being deficient, and that our environments should accommodate human differences rather than force everyone into the same pattern.

To every left-hander: your left hand isn't the wrong hand—it is simply your dominant hand.
