Yoruba Community Celebrates Amala Day in Imo State 🇳🇬
— A Beautiful Blend of Culture, Food & Unity

Seeing my kinsmen and women celebrate Amala Day today (Sunday, July 27) in Owerri, Imo State, dressed in vibrant Adire attire, brought back a flood of beautiful memories.

I remember my time at Prefab Estate, Owerri—two rich years of learning the Igbo language and culture firsthand.

📍 We were close to Aladimma, where FUTO used to be before its move to Obinze.
📍 We attended church at Ikenegbu, and the General Hospital was just around the corner.
📍 Our fence bordered the WAEC building, nearly completed when I left.
📻 And those unforgettable Igbo radio programs from Imo Broadcasting Corporation—they taught me so much.

Some things you can only appreciate when you travel—the friendships, the fusion of cultures, the warmth of other communities.

Today’s event is a reminder that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity.
From Amala to Ofe Owerri, we are one people bound by shared stories and respect.
