Daniel Etim-Effiong’s (Chimdumeje’s) disability and mid life crisis is the core of the plot of this spectacular love drama.

Chimdumeje is a strong, committed, diligent and attentive young man, and the first son of his parents but women and life have dealt harshly with him. His character oscillates between hostility, resignation and a little bit of hope in the future.

Ekama Inyang (Anaiah) ‘s presence in the family brings to the fore the flicker of hope in love and humanity, in Chimdumeje.

But this was just to last for a while before the hubris in the last born of the family takes charge of the family drama and twists around the plot of A Christmas Proposal.

What stand out in this drama are the careful attention to the formation of all the characters, including their psychological dispositions; the interest to promote a healthy family life; steady plot development and chemistry among the cast.

There is something to learn about the new trends in the corporate world, as workplace is redefined to suit the drama plot.

This is a story of disappointment, courage, hope and love. It is “A Christmas Proposal” after all.

RoyalArts and Closer Pictures are known for realistic and relatable stories. This love drama is a plus to their credibility.

Great job -effiong

DEFINITION OR DEFINATION?

As popular as the word, “definition” is, many non-native speakers of the English Language, find it difficult to spell or pronounce it properly.

There seems to be not much reason behind it apart from the general “half-baked” teaching syndrome that engages examiners and well-trained tutors of the Language.

Definition according to the Cambridge English dictionary is presented as “a statement that explains the meaning of a word or phrase…
a description of the features and limits of something”.

The second part of the meaning described above reminds me of the story of a young lady, of marriageable age who would often go back to cry to God anytime a man she believes should never have considered her for partnership approaches her for marriage.

She was of the opinion that there was something wrong with her, attracting the type of man she didn't consider her potential partner and would beg God to correct the anomaly in her life, so that she would attract the type of man she considered suitable for her.

This young lady to me, had defined her choice and this made it easy for her to observe what she considered a challenge and proffer an appropriate solution.

In other words, it is very important to define what works for you in every aspect of your life:

Define your idea of success;
Define your personality;
Define your choice of pleasure;
Define your concept of spirituality;
Define your brand;
Define your relationship;
Define your teaching role;
Define your learning role;
Define your business;
Define your writing.

Breaking down these complex concepts through proper definition would safe you a lot of had I knowns.

What works for someone else is not likely going to work a hundred percent for you.

You may borrow ideas but defining yours would yield that result you desire.

While you are at it, remember not to misspell the word, “definition” from now.

SEVEN POINTS TO NOTE ABOUT ISBN AND ISSN PROCUREMENT IN NIGERIA

The International Standard Book Number ISBN is a globally recognized unique identifier assigned to published books and other intellectual properties.

It consists thirteen (13) digits for easy compilation and identification.

The International Standard Serial Number is often assigned alongside the International Standard Book Number in Nigeria.

“ISSN was developed in the early 1970s to aid identification of serial publications at the international level and once a number assigned, it holds throughout the lifespan of that periodical. The ISSN is used to distinguish serials with the same title, a very important element for ordering cataloguing, inter-library loan and other processes associated with serials.”

ISBN OR ISSN when assigned to any intellectual output cannot be reassigned or revised.

ISBN is found on the title verso, back cover and the spine of the Mock. It can also be used for e-copies.

Book Publishers and Authors are expected to fulfil this important aspect of the Book publishing process, to secure the copyright of that manuscript.

Jesus is God.

Jesus is the Begotten Son of God.

Jesus is the Son of the Virgin Mary.

Mary is the only woman in the history of humanity with the title of the Mother of God.

Ever thought of one of her other titles as the Mother of Sorrows?

Mother of Sorrows because of the prophecy of Simeon

Mother of Sorrows because she had to flee to Egypt (Africa) to protect her new born child from Herod

Mother of Sorrows because she searched for her only child for three days.

Mother of Sorrows because of the condemnation of her innocent child by the angry mob

Mother of Sorrows because of the torture of her only child

Mother of Sorrows because of the crucifixion and death of her only child

Mother of Sorrows because she carried her dead child in her laps

Sorrow is any challenge beyond your control.

Sorrow is any challenge that no force on earth or scheme of man can remove from your life.

Sorrow is that which takes the grace of God alone to overcome.

The next time you hear that title of our Mother Mary as Our Lady of Sorrows, think about how much she bore to fulfil the divine will.

As the Marian Month ends today, through the intercession of our Mother Mary, may the grace of God helps you surmount that challenge that is beyond your control.

Amen

Iṣẹ́ Lòògùn Ìṣẹ́ - J. F O̩dúnjọ

Any contact with J. F O̩dúnjọ's masterpiece, “Iṣẹ́ Lòògùn Ìṣẹ́” evokes in me the power of productivity.

I had another opportunity to translate it today and thought to expose this beauty to the world, again.

Even if you can't speak or write the Yorùbá Language like some of us, you should not be denied access to the wisdom taught through the medium, or what do you think?

As you read, I encourage you to not only be meaningfully engaged but be intentional about your job.

I salute all elders before proceeding with the translation. Pardon my errors, Ẹ dákun.🙏🙏🙏

“Iṣẹ́ l'ògùn ìṣẹ́, múra sí iṣẹ́ ọ̀réèmi
Iṣẹ́ l'afi n dẹni gíga
Bí a kò bá r'ẹ́ni fèhìntì, bí ò̩le làárí

Here we go:

Work is the antidote to poverty.
Work hard, my friend.
Work makes us great.
If we do not have anyone to support us,
We appear lazy to the world.
If we have no one to rely on,
We work hard.

Your mother may be wealthy, your father own fleets of horses.
If you rely on them,
Your embarrassment is around the corner, I tell you.
Whatever we do not labour for does not last.
It is what we labour for that belongs to us till infinity.

Acquaintances and step siblings are only support systems.
If the world celebrates you today, because you are rich.
They will still honour you tomorrow, if you are in a privileged position.
The world will cheer you when you are wealthy, wait till you fail or become poor.
You discover how the world despises and mocks poverty.

Suffering awaits the foolish child.
Weeping is in store for the restless child.
Do not waste your morning, my friend.
Work hard, time waits for no one.

Colour of Paradise

The THREE together in nature as ONE
Gives the best of gifts
Life, like Salvation, second to none.

Strike the child and clinch the prize.
Strike the child and arrows will fly.
Strike the child and generations will cry.

Their innocence, the colour of Paradise
Their babbles, the smile of Paradise
Their angels always on guard

Their presence, the echoes of love
Their hearts, the ark of God
Their voice, the covenant's core

Employ These Examination Expos as You Sit Your Promotional Examinations

In this season of examinations when all stakeholders band together to ensure that students excel and graduate to the next level, I have been sent to share these “Expos” with you:

Mummies and Daddies,

Uncles and Aunties,

Brothers and Sisters,

Students and Tutors,

There is no shortcut to success in that examination you are about to sit.

My dear, get off the high horse and pay attention to my words.

Pride can only lead to pain.

The necessary route you avoid today while engaging in any meaningful exercise awaits you in a short while, around the corner of your destination.

Whoever encourages any child to seek illegitimate and wrong means to success is not a friend.

Forget all the niceties.

Stakeholders in this future planning business, the moment you or they cover up your child's inadequacies,

you have automatically taught that child that there is no gain in labour.

You have taught your child that one lie does not make any difference.

You have given your child a reason to disrespect and doubt your words and actions till eternity.

You have taught your child that it is safe to be lazy.

You have successfully created an entitled child that will not give you peace as he or she grows.

You have just signed up for babysitting your adult child till old age.

No, it is not the Nigerian government, institutions and examination bodies you played a fast trick on.

You just shot yourself in the leg.

Avoid any “Expo” that is not similar or connected to the three I am about to share with you.

By the way, “Expo” in the Nigerian Linguistic parlance simply means “tips”.

Basically, the three “Expos” are:

Prayer

Preparation

Practice.

Even if you're not religious, at least you believe in kind and powerful words.

Use those powerful words to encourage and inspire your child as they sit their promotional examinations.

Prepare them well.

Monitor their academic progress.

Study with them.

Hold their hands through the long ride to academic success.

Don't leave them to their schools or teachers alone.

If they need extra coaching, make it available.

And of course, Practice assessments with them and correct their errors before they go sit that examination.

At the end of the day, when the results are released don't crucify them for not performing up to your expectations.

One examination does not define the future of that child.

Instead, find solutions to their weak grades by making available extra coaching.

You need to also boost their self-esteem by assuring them that they can perform better through your attention.

Give them that attention now when they still need you. E get why.

Did you notice how 's mother engaged with him to the very end?

His impressive performance is the kind of reward these three “Expos” will yield.

“Gbọ́mọgbọ́mọ ò ní gbọ́mọ wa lọ ò.”

Remember,
