GSU SRC SUCCESSFULLY HOSTS PUBLIC LECTURE ON POLITICAL AND DIGITAL THUGGERY
The Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Gombe State University, under the leadership of Amb. Abubakar Aminu Muhammad Alaa, SRC President, has successfully hosted a public lecture as part of its Students’ Campaign Against Political and Digital Thuggery.
The programme, themed “My Future Is Bigger Than Political and Digital Thuggery,” was held on Monday, 28th September 2026, at the English Theatre, Gombe State University, bringing together students, student leaders, university officials and representatives of key institutions.
The Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, Nigeria Police Force, was represented at the event by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Gombe State Command, who delivered the keynote address and engaged students on the dangers of political and digital thuggery, responsible citizenship, peaceful participation and the responsible use of digital platforms.
The event also witnessed the presence of representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the National Orientation Agency (NOA), who contributed to the broader discussion on civic responsibility, peaceful engagement and positive societal values.
Also in attendance was Dr. Adamu Ahmed, PhD, Head of the Department of Sociology, Gombe State University, alongside student leaders, association presidents, SRC appointees and students from across the university community.
The lecture provided a platform for meaningful interaction and enlightenment, encouraging students to reject violence, online harassment, misinformation, manipulation and other forms of political and digital misconduct while embracing responsible leadership and constructive civic participation.
The Students’ Representative Council expresses its sincere appreciation to University Management, the Nigeria Police Force, INEC, NOA, the Department of Sociology, student leaders, SRC appointees and all students whose presence and contributions made the programme a success.
Under the leadership of Amb. Abubakar Aminu Muhammad Alaa, the SRC remains committed to initiatives that promote student welfare, responsible leadership, peaceful coexistence, civic consciousness and a positive campus environment.
