GOD is good ✅️

"Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!" (Psalm 107:1, ESV)

This is not a slogan. It’s not sentimental optimism. It’s unshakable truth rooted in the holy, sovereign character of GOD. He is not good merely when your life feels manageable. He is not good only when the diagnosis is clean, the bank account is full, or the relationships are sweet. He is good all the time—even in suffering, even in discipline, even in judgment.

1. GOD’S Goodness Is Objective, Not Subjective

Scripture doesn't ask us how we feel about GOD’S goodness—it declares it.

“The LORD is good to all, and His mercy is over all that He has made” (Psalm 145:9).
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change” (James 1:17).
GOD doesn’t change. His goodness is not a reflection of our circumstances; our circumstances are instruments in His sovereign hand to reveal that goodness—sometimes through blessings, sometimes through trials.

2. GOD’S Goodness Exposes Our Sin

GOD is good—but we are not. That contrast is crushing apart from Christ.

“No one is good except GOD alone” (Mark 10:18).
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of GOD” (Romans 3:23).
When we doubt GOD’S goodness, it's not because He has failed us—it's because sin has blinded us. In our pride, we want to redefine “good” on our own terms. But GOD’S goodness demands justice against evil, wrath against sin, and truth over deception. That's why the cross is central: it is where the goodness of GOD collided with the depravity of man.

3. GOD’S Goodness Is Most Clearly Displayed in Christ

GOD didn’t just say He was good—He proved it.

“But GOD shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
“For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of GOD” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Jesus Christ is the clearest, deepest, and most glorious display of the goodness of GOD. At the cross, He bore the wrath we deserve so that we could receive the mercy we could never earn.

4. Repentance Is the Only Right
Response to the Goodness of GOD

GOD’S goodness is not meant to make you complacent—it’s meant to bring you to your knees.

“Or do you presume on the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that GOD’S kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?” (Romans 2:4)
If you have been living in sin—sexual immorality, deceit, idolatry, greed, unforgiveness, pride—the goodness of GOD demands that you repent. You cannot receive His goodness while clutching the very sin that nailed Christ to the cross.

5. The Gospel Is the Proof that GOD Is Good All the Time

The gospel doesn’t promise an easy life—it promises eternal life. Through faith in Christ, we are justified, adopted, sanctified, and one day glorified. And all of it is rooted in GOD’S unchanging goodness.

So yes, GOD is good all the time. And that is either your greatest hope—or your greatest warning.

If you are in Christ: Rejoice! Every hardship is filtered through His love. Every blessing is a glimpse of His glory. And your future is forever secure in His goodness.

If you are outside of Christ: Repent! Flee to the cross. Trust in the resurrected Savior. Receive the goodness of GOD—not as wrath, but as mercy.

GOD is good all the time. The question is: Are you submitted to His goodness—or resisting it?

“Taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!” (Psalm 34:8)
Will you take refuge in Him today? Or will you continue to presume on His goodness while walking in rebellion?

The time to repent is now. The time to believe is now. The time to live in the goodness of GOD is now.
