*‼️ Breaking: Asuu directs members to begin nationwide strike*

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared an indefinite nationwide strike due to the non-payment of June 2025 salaries and worsening financial hardship among lecturers. The decision follows a resolution by ASUU’s National Executive Council (NEC), which enforces a "No Pay, No Work" policy if salaries are delayed beyond three days into a new month.

ASUU President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, blamed the federal government’s negligence and criticised delays in salary payments under the GIFMIS payroll system. He also raised concerns over the outstanding N10 billion in Earned Academic Allowances (EAA) owed to members.

ASUU insists the strike will continue until the government resolves the salary delay and payment issues.

The memorandum UN/DVC/A/E.S of 23rd June, 2025 on the above subject refers.

This is to remind all the students that lectures have duly commenced since 7th of June, 2025 in the various Departments and the semester will end on 26th September, 2025. The students are also reminded that 75% of attendance to lectures is required to qualify for examination.

I therefore kindly urge you in your best interest to return to school and resume lectures.
