I have a kid brother who flatters me by thinking I have answers to every question in the world. So, just yesterday, I was on my laptop, writing a new poem, and he was on the floor next to me, creating a new toy. All of a sudden, he shot his first question.
"Larry, how can a person be wise?"
I nodded. I could answer that question even without being wise and so i replied;
"Well, you'll just have to think about others all the time before coming down to yourself, talk the good people do at their backs and talk the bad they do before them, and finally; you must be selflessly humble; knowing that no matter our station in life, we are all nothing when you really come to think of it..."
He seemed quite impressed as he squeezed his fresh small face, trying to understand what i just said. I hoped he would let me rest and went back to what i was doing. Only a minute later, he fired again;
"Larry, how does a person become successful academically?"
I reflected a little bit on the question before saying
"You'll just have to put in that teensy weensy little effort you call your best and enjoy doing that too"
I really hoped he would let me be for a while, but not my brother.He shot the third question;
"Larry, how can one have a great time in school?"
As i thought about that question, a smile came to my face naturally as the answer was so easy to come.
Still smiling, i replied "... you'll just have to be in a class that has people like biggy, victor, mathew, doc, tochukwu, ugwuoke, blessing, cynthia, vivian, chidera, aristotle, dennis, rita, adesuan, kelvin, sunday, daniel, ebube, solomon, miracle, adaobi, diana...
simply put, you'll just have to be in a class like the 017 class of the law faculty of the University of Nigeria,"
Happy New Year Great 017.
