Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) Chairman Engage with ECOWAS Parliament on Regional Industrial Cooperation at the 2026 First Ordinary Session in Abuja

The Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM), Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, and the CEO of Innoson Kiara Academy (IKA), Mr. Ndubuisi Endi Ezengwa, participated in the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 First Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament, held on 4 May 2026 in Abuja, Nigeria.

The session, convened in line with the ECOWAS Parliament’s 2026 Programme of Activities, brought together Members of Parliament from across the region to deliberate on key issues of regional importance, including policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening integration and advancing socio-economic development within West Africa.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of IVM reaffirmed the Group’s commitment to supporting industrial growth, job creation, and reducing reliance on imports through indigenous production across the continent. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in building sustainable industries that will drive economic development and improve living standards across the region. He also highlighted IVM’s focus on innovation, skills development, and youth empowerment as key pillars of its long-term vision.
The Chairman reiterated his commitment to advancing indigenous industrial capacity across Africa, noting its evolving role beyond automobile manufacturing into broader industrial solutions that contribute to self-reliance and economic transformation.

The Chairman announced the launch of the Innoson Pan-African Prestige Club, an initiative aimed at bringing together partners and stakeholders to advance African innovation and industrialisation.

He extended an invitation to the Honourable Speaker and distinguished Members of the ECOWAS Parliament to visit IVM’s headquarters in Nnewi, Anambra State, offering an opportunity to experience firsthand its manufacturing capabilities and contributions to industrial development in Africa.

In recognition of his contributions to innovation and industrial development, the Chairman of IVM, Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, was also honoured with an award presented by the Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament in acknowledgment of his outstanding role in advancing industrialisation within the region.

The engagement of IVM and IKA reflects openness from the ECOWAS Parliament for collaboration, with discussions highlighting a strong interest in advancing industrialisation, promoting local manufacturing, and deepening intra-African trade across ECOWAS member states, in support of sustainable industrial growth, regional integration, and the development of locally driven solutions for Africa’s future, with the CEO of IKA serving as the Technical Director for the project.

The trainees arrived at Innoson Kiara Academy, Nnewi, today and will commence full activities in due time starting with accreditation and will be followed by 3 months of intensive hands-on training.

Their fully sponsored program covers two key trade areas:
🔧 Auto Mechanics – Mechanical & Electrical/Electronic Systems
🚗 Vehicle Body Building – Panel Beating & Professional Spray Painting

Under the youth development agenda, Aguata LGA Council is providing:
