GRADUATE VISA

Many international students have been in doubt as to what a graduate Visa means and How this will benefit them after their studies. In this article, information to guide students already enrolled in their courses and potential students struggling with the decision to study in the UK will be discussed.
Graduate visa is not new to the UK education system as this has been in existence but was only scrapped in 2012 by the UK government. This Visa route permits international students to remain in the country and work for 2 to 3 years after their undergraduate and post-graduate studies respectively. The good news is that this opportunity has been reactivated again and this means international students can now be able to apply for 2-3 years post-study visa after successful completion of undergraduate or post-graduate study.

HOW DO I APPLY
The application for this visa route is done through a digital means in most cases. You will be needing to complete this application on GOV.UK and using the UK immigration ID check App to verify your identity. To complete this check, your current Tier 4 BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) is required. Also, make sure you have your CAS (Confirmation of acceptance for Studies) handy while completing your application as this is a vital requirement to completing your application

WHEN DO I APPLY
Application is welcomed once you have received your final result on completion of your undergraduate or post-graduate studies. Your institution of study will need to inform UKVI that you have completed your studies before your application be given any attention

WHO IS ELIGIBLE
An international student who has a valid Tier 4/student visa is eligible to apply if they meet the following requirements:
o Your course needs to be completed in the UK with few exceptions
o The course completed must correspond with the course on your CAS.
o There will be no need for proof of English proficiency because you completed your course in the United Kingdom

APPLICATION COST
To apply for a graduate visa route, you will need to pay £700 per applicant. This includes all your dependants. Also, IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge) applies costing £624 yearly per applicant. These fees need to be paid in full before an application can be submitted. Proof of fund is not required for graduate visa application

WHAT YOU CAN AND CANNOT DO ON THIS VISA
 You must be inside the UK to make this application to stand a chance
 Remain in the UK until a decision is made on your application
 If your visa expires while your application is under review, you are permitted to remain in the UK lawfully.
 If you leave the UK while your application is being considered, you risk being denied entry
 You are not allowed to bring another dependent apart from those already on your Tier 4 Visa
 You can switch to a skilled job visa so long as you and your employer meet the requirements
 You cannot be a professional sportsman
 Cannot apply for public fund
 You cannot take up other studies that merit a student visa application

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY DEPENDANTS

Dependant's application can be submitted at the same time. A new Dependant outside of the UK will not be considered. Dependants are allowed to work and continue their business so long as they are legitimate. This type of Visa is non-extendable and the dependants' visa expires once the main applicant visa becomes invalid.
