โš›๏ธ CHEMICAL BONDING: HOW ATOMS CONNECT

Have you ever wondered why atoms join together to form substances around us? ๐Ÿค”

The answer is chemical bonding.

Chemical bonding is the force of attraction that holds atoms or ions together to form compounds and molecules.

There are three major types of chemical bonds:

๐Ÿ”น 1. Ionic Bond
Electrons are transferred from one atom to another.
Example: Sodium chloride (NaCl) โ€” the common salt we use every day.

๐Ÿ”น 2. Covalent Bond
Atoms share electrons to become more stable.
Examples: Water (Hโ‚‚O), oxygen (Oโ‚‚), and carbon dioxide (COโ‚‚).

๐Ÿ”น 3. Metallic Bond
Metal atoms are held together by positively charged ions surrounded by a sea of delocalised electrons.
Examples: Copper, iron, and aluminium.

๐ŸŒ WHY IS CHEMICAL BONDING IMPORTANT?

Chemical bonding helps explain how countless substances are formed and why they have different properties. From the water we drink to the materials used to build our homes, chemical bonds are everywhere.

๐Ÿงฌ CELL DIVISION: HOW ONE CELL BECOMES MANY

Have you ever wondered how a tiny cell can produce new cells that help an organism grow, repair damaged tissues, and reproduce?

That is where cell division comes in. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Cell division is the process by which a parent cell divides to produce new cells.

There are two major types:

๐Ÿ”น 1. MITOSIS
Mitosis produces two genetically identical daughter cells. It is important for:

Growth

Repair of damaged tissues

Replacement of old or worn-out cells

The main stages of mitosis are:

Prophase โ†’ Metaphase โ†’ Anaphase โ†’ Telophase

This is followed by cytokinesis, when the cell's cytoplasm divides.

๐Ÿ”น 2. MEIOSIS
Meiosis produces s*x cells (gametes) such as s***m and egg cells. It reduces the chromosome number by half and creates genetic variation.

๐ŸŒฑ WHY IS CELL DIVISION IMPORTANT?

Without cell division, multicellular organisms could not grow, develop, replace damaged cells, or reproduce s*xually.
