These skillsets are very profitable if you dedicate your time, energy and investment learning them.

No room for excuses, most of this skill can be learnt from YOUTUBE and the good thing about it is, it’s FREE. However, if you want to learn FAST while avoiding mistakes, its best to get a mentor or a successful guide.

3 MISTAKES EVERY MINI IMPORTER SHOULD AVOID

What is mini importation?
Mini importation is the of act of importing items from outside the shores of Nigeria and selling to consumers. Countries most commonly imported from are China, Turkey and USA.
Long time ago before the internet became a huge thing, the importation business was a huge thing. There was nothing mini about it. You had to have serious money and sometimes connections to even venture into the business. It was for big boys with millions in their bank accounts but today the story is different. You can start your mini importation business with as little as #10,000 and still go on to be successful. In order to succeed you must do your due diligence.
So, in this article we will be looking at 3 mistakes to avoid if you are looking at starting the mini importation business as major business or a side hustle. If you are already into the business, continue reading, you may learn a thing or 2.

MISTAKE 1: WRONG CHOICE OF PRODUCT
Most times people will buy a product if it meets a need they have at that moment. For this reason, I always advise new importers to do their product and target audience research before they go ahead to import anything. Do not import a product just because a lot of people are importing it. Ask yourself some vital questions like
# what is this product used for?
# is there really a need for this product?
# Does it work?
# is there a ready market for it?
It a lot easier to sell a blood pressure monitor to someone who has blood pressure issues than just importing it blindly and hoping you will meet people who need it eventually. One of the disadvantages of importing a wrong product is that it ties down your money. I know someone who imported 2000 pcs of manual grinder and till today it occupies space in her room.

MISTAKE 2: WHERE YOU SOURCE YOUR PRODUCTS
A lot of mini importers source their products from Alibaba and AliExpress. These are great sites to buy from but there are also other sites where you can source same products at a much cheaper rate. One of those sites is 1688.com.
A pair of sneakers can be $10 on AliExpress and on 1688, same sneakers, same quality is about $2. The person who imported from AliExpress will still go ahead to make profit on those sneakers but its nothing compared to the other person who imported from 1688.

MISTAKE 3: STARTING WITHOUT ADEQUATE TRAINING
Its amazing how people start the mini importation training with little or no training at all and expect to make it big. Some go ahead to make some money but most lose a lot of their hard earned cash.one needs adequate training on:
1.The type of product to import
2.How and where to source products
3.Payment and shipping
4.How to sell the products using social media and by this I don’t mean going to your Facebook profile to just post your products. You need to learn how to target the right audience and attract them to buy your product. You also need to learn how to automate your selling process so that you can be selling even when you are asleep.
5.Delivery.you need to learn how to deliver theses products to your customers across Nigeria to minimise your return rate. High return rate is one of the reasons people leave the business.

Some of these trainings don’t come cheap. I am not talking about the #500 you pay to be added to WhatsApp groups. Those kinds of trainings will not do much for you if you want to get to the stage of making at least #1,000,000 monthly profit from your mini importation business.

THE "PERFECT BUSINESS" EVERY NIGERIAN SHOULD KNOW ABOUT

If you think about it carefully, you will agree with me that most of what we spend money on comes down to physical goods that help us to live a more comfortable life and enjoy life better.
Things like:
- Fine clothing
- Shoes
- Health supplements
- Creams
- Lingerie
- Make-Up and other Beauty products
- Jewelry (Beads, wristwatches etc)
- Stuff for Kids
- Fitness Products
- Bathroom products
- Phones, Tablets and other mobile gadgets
- Computers and accessories
- Etc
The point I am trying to make is this...
"People spend a lot of money every year on physical products and that is why companies like Jumia & Konga are growing FAT every day"
The market for these products is HUGE and UNLIMITED.
And majority of these products are imported from places like China, Turkey and the US.
But unlike Jumia and Konga, you do not need a big website with lots of bells to make a lot of money importing and selling these physical products.
No.
As a matter of fact, you could make millions from a single product when you use the smart e-commerce approach
I am not sure what your income goal is...
Maybe it is an extra N500,000 a month
Or N1 million a month
Or even N5 million a month
The smart e-commerce model I am about to explain to you can make it happen for you (that is, if you are not lazy like many people are)
How Smart E-commerce Works
I am about to explain how the smart e-commerce business works and I will be using a story to do this
This is the story of one of the students in my Facebook group.
As a stay at home mom in Lagos, she needed a way to generate some income
She wanted to start a fashion design shop but her capital wasn't enough to get her the shop and equipment needed.
So, someone introduced her to Smart E-commerce
After a few weeks, she imported her first product from China.
It was a simple hand-sewing machine that anyone could use for simple cloth adjustments.
See the picture below:
Each of the mini sewing machine cost her about N800 to import (product cost + shipping)
At first, she imported 40 pieces which cost N40,000
Then she started selling them for N5500 each using Instagram(and she didn't even have a website)
You might have even seen her adverts on Instagram
To cut the long story short, she sold all the 40 pieces within the first week of importing them and she had to order another 200 pieces
Within the first month, she sold 250 pieces via Instagram and made N1.2m in net profits
Think about it - How many businesses do you know of where one can start with N50,000 and make N1.2m in net profits within a month?
If you take a good look at this story (you can read it again), you will be able to understand what Smart E-commerce is all about
But in case you don't, let me spell it out clearly for you
Smart E-Commerce is All About 3 Things:
(1) You search for at least one physical product that solve problems for people or helps them get closer to their desires.
E.g. In the example above, the mini sewing machine is a tool that helps a lot of moms to easily make adjustments to clothes without having to go to the tailor and without buying a standard sewing machine
(2) You buy the products at the lowest cost possible (from China or US) and you import them to Nigeria.
E.g. Like the woman, she bought the sewing machines from a site called Aliexpress and imported them via a shipping agent known as ChrisVicMall to avoid heavy custom charges.
(3) You sell them using genius marketing methods to for a good ROI
E.g. In her case, she simply sold them using just Instagram adverts
This is why I said earlier that you can make millions from a single product when you use this smart e-commerce approach
Later on, you can expand to more products.
Right now, the overall E-commerce business in Nigeria is booming.
According to a study published on Leadership.ng, the E-commerce industry in Nigeria is now worth $13 Billion as you can see below:
That is about 4.5 Trillion Naira
This is one of the reasons why I highly recommend this business model.
I also recommend the Smart E-commerce business model because:
· You don't need a lot of money to start (You can start with even N25,000)
· The market for physical products is HUGE and UNLIMITED (you will never run out of products to sell)
· You don't need a shop or office to start
· It is not time-consuming
· And the profits can be fast and crazy
As you can see, this business is not for broke or unserious people.
But the good thing is that you can turn your capital into a lot of profits within a few weeks if you use a proven system.

Then with time, it will become an habit and this will bring more success into your life.
