Isaac's Newton 1st law of motion states that a body will continue in its own state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line until it is acted upon by an external force. This is also called the law of INTERTIA. This law is responsible for why passengers jerk forward when a moving vehicle suddenly tends to stop.It is also the reason passengers jerk backwards when a stationary vehicle suddenly accelerates forward. The use of seat-belt and headrest respectively will prevent an accident that may occur due the passengers' experience.

I read his book (P.N OKEKE, PHYSICS) first, before ESSENTIAL PHYSICS, NEW SCHOOL PHYSICS, NELKON & PARKER. You have been a great man.
Professor P. N. Okeke
The Legendary Physicist Who Raised Generations
Professor Patrick Nwikoke Okeke stands tall as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated scientists, teachers, and authors. He is best known as a distinguished Professor of Physics whose textbooks shaped the learning of thousands of students across West Africa. For decades his name has remained a symbol of academic excellence, discipline, and a commitment to the growth of science education in Nigeria.
Born in 1951 in Nsukka, Enugu State, Professor Patrick Nwikoke Okeke developed a love for physics at an early age. His curiosity about how the world works pushed him toward a lifetime of scientific discovery and teaching. He studied at the University of Nigeria Nsukka where he later became one of the most respected lecturers in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
Professor Okeke’s impact reaches far beyond the classroom. His widely used physics textbook Senior Secondary Physics, co-authored with S. Onayako, became a cornerstone for secondary school students preparing for WAEC and NECO examinations. Generations of Nigerian students grew up learning from his clear explanations and practical approach to complex scientific ideas.
He also made major contributions to Astronomy and Space Science in Nigeria. Under his leadership the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UNN gained international recognition. Professor Patrick Nwikoke Okeke played a key role in mentoring young scientists and promoting space research in the country, inspiring many to pursue careers in physics and engineering.
Beyond academics he has received numerous awards for his work in education and research. He has supervised countless postgraduate students, many of whom now hold important academic and research positions worldwide. His dedication to building knowledge and character among students has made him a beloved figure in the Nigerian academic community.
