Do you know that price and prize are not homophones, that is, they do not have the same sound, hence, they are not pronounced the same way?

Before looking at the pronunciation, let's take a look at the meaning.

PRICE is the cost required to gain the possession of something while a PRIZE is an honour, award or anything offered for winning a competitive contest.

Price /praɪs/ ends with the consonant sound /s/ (that is, the sound of the letter s)

While

Prize /praɪz/ ends with the consonant sound /z/ ( that is, the sound of the letter z).

That word is not PROSPOND. ❎

So it is wrong to say, 'they have prospond the election.

You should rather say, 'they have POSTPONED the election'. ✔

Or

The election has been POSTPONED. ✔
