Not every groundbreaking discovery was welcomed from the beginning.

Several researchers whose work eventually earned Nobel Prizes experienced rejection or significant resistance before their findings gained acceptance.

History reminds us that important ideas are not always immediately recognized.

Do you think today’s publication system gives innovative research a fair chance, or does it sometimes favor safer and more conventional studies?

We would love to hear your perspective.

Follow for more research insights, publishing tips, and academic discussions.

Research published in the African Journal of Law, Political Research and Administration reviewed how digital tools including artificial intelligence, big data analysis, civic participation platforms, and gender-disaggregated data systems are being used to support more inclusive public policy-making in Ghana.

Drawing on case studies from Iceland, India, and UN Women projects, the paper maps out both the genuine opportunities and the structural barriers that limit impact, including the gender digital divide, algorithmic bias, low digital literacy, online harassment, and weak institutional support.

The conclusion is clear. Technology alone cannot fix structural gender inequality, but with inclusive design, equitable access, and real institutional commitment, it can move the needle.

Watch the full video for the complete breakdown.

The gender digital divide, algorithmic bias, low digital literacy among women, online harassment, and insufficient institutional backing remain significant obstacles.

The paper concludes that technology is not a fix for structural gender inequality, but with the right design, access, and multi-stakeholder collaboration, it can serve as a meaningful catalyst for gender justice in policy-making.

For researchers, policymakers, legal scholars, gender studies academics, and public administration professionals, this paper offers a grounded, evidence-based framework for thinking through the role of digital innovation in inclusive governance.

Here is a fact that surprises many researchers and students.

Several of history’s most influential scientific discoveries were published before peer review became the standard practice adopted by most academic journals.

Today, peer review is considered one of the most important quality control systems in research publishing. Yet some of the discoveries that changed the world entered the scientific record through a very different publishing process.

Do you believe today’s peer review system encourages innovation, or do you think it sometimes slows down groundbreaking ideas?

Share your thoughts below.

Sawdust is one of the most overlooked waste products in African agriculture. This study makes a case for taking it seriously as a construction material.

Research published in the International Journal of Mechanical and Civil Engineering tested sawdust ash as a pozzolanic stabilizer in lateritic bricks. Using Response Surface Methodology and SEM microstructural imaging, the team identified an optimal mix that produced bricks exceeding load-bearing standards at 365 days, with measurable improvements in water absorption, abrasion, impact, and sulphate attack resistance.

The findings point to a practical, low cost solution that tackles both construction costs and agricultural waste management at the same time.

We want to hear from you. Do you think agricultural waste materials like sawdust ash have a future in mainstream construction across Africa? Share your thoughts in the comments.

A new study published in the International Journal of Mechanical and Civil Engineering tested sawdust ash as a pozzolanic stabilizer in lateritic bricks. Using Response Surface Methodology and SEM microstructural imaging, researchers identified an optimal mix that produced bricks exceeding load-bearing standards after 365 days of curing, with strong resistance to water absorption, abrasion, impact, and sulphate attack.

The findings make a compelling case for sawdust ash as a low cost, environmentally responsible alternative to conventional cement-heavy stabilization.Swipe through the carousel for the full breakdown.
