I almost gave up…
but purpose held me.
My journey is proof that God does not make mistakes.
I had a one-to-one session with a client, and after the class, she sent me a message.
In that message, she said:
“ Thank God you didn’t miss your path.”
I froze for a moment… because that line took me back to where it all began.
That line? It holds my entire story.
****
After my West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), when it was time to choose what to study, I was at a crossroad.
My dad wanted Law.
My mom said no.
I just knew one thing, I didn’t want to get it wrong.
So I prayed.
I wrote down three courses. Law was there. English Education was there. The third one, I can’t even remember now. But I sought God, I sought counsel, and eventually, I got clarity.
English Education.
I didn’t fully understand it at the time… but I followed.
Then came the voices.
I remember a neighbour who would mock it…
“Out of all courses, na English she go study?”
I would just smile.
Because deep down, I had peace… even when I didn’t have proof.
Then life happened. 😢😢
In my first year, my mom had an accident on her way back from the village. She was admitted in the hospital, and as the only daughter, I had to be there with her.
I missed tests.
I missed exams.
But I kept going.
Then came my final year.
My mom became critically ill. We had to leave our state for another state where she could receive treatment. At that same time, I was meant to be preparing for my final exams.
I stayed with her… caring for her.
But she said to me,
“My daughter, go. I don’t want to be the reason you don’t finish what you started.”
That was one of the hardest decisions of my life.
I arranged for someone to stay with her and left to write my exams.
A few days later… I got the call.
We lost her.
And before I could even process that pain… just days after, I lost my dad too.
My mom passed on the 16th of November 2012.
My dad followed on the 24th of November 2012.
It all happened so fast.
That season… it broke me.
But God…
God was not done with my story.
The very next year, February 2013, I got married.
That same month, I conceived.
And on the 8th of November 2013, I gave birth to my first child.
Then on the 17th of November 2014, I had my second child.
Today, I have four children… and three of them were born in November.
The same November that once held so much pain…
God turned it into a month of life.
A month of joy.
A month of remembrance… but no longer of sorrow.
I did not plan it.
I could not have planned it.
Only God can write a story like this.
What was meant to break me… became a reminder that God restores.
Fast forward to today…
The messages I receive.
The lives I impact.
The confidence my students gain.
And then this message today:
“Thank God you didn’t miss your path.”
(Note : I do not know this client personally, we met online)
Not every path will make sense at the beginning.
Not every decision will be applauded.
But if you choose based on pressure, comparison, or noise… you may end up in the wrong place.
And that is a dangerous place to be.
To the younger ones, choose wisely.
To parents, guide, but don’t force.
And above all, seek God.
Because purpose is not something you guess…
it is something you discover.
I’ll be dropping some of the messages and reviews I’ve received over time in the comment section.
Feel free to go through them and see for yourself.
God has been faithful… and I know this is just the beginning.
