I observed one mistake we make when replacing an IC or a microchip especially spider IC's, we are not taking extra consideration about the terminals that transmitting the signals between the Chips, we always worry about the numbers printed on top of the Chips or on the PCB's. That can help also, but not *100%*. The most important thing is to check the terminals well before and after removing IC, double check again after replacing to avoid short circuit, circuit breaking or irregulation of the power supplied to the other/next Chip.
