Yesterday Rivers United F. C. winners of Nigeria Professional Football League 2021/2022 season were at the Government House to formally present their trophy.

According to the Executive Governor, Nyesom Wike, to encourage them, the players will get $20,000(12 million Naira) each and be sponsored to Real Madrid on a 2-week training tour.

*ASUU ROLL-OVER WARNING STRIKE*

The *Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended its warning strike by eight weeks.*

ASUU reached the decision after its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the University of Abuja secretariat of the union following the expiration of its one-month warning strike. It hinged its decision on the _unseriousness of the Federal Government._

More so, after the union National Executive Council meeting, and having taken reports on the engagements of the Trustees and Principal Officers with the Government, the union concluded that the _Federal Government had failed to satisfactorily address all the issues raised in the 2020 FGN/ASUU Memorandum of Action (MoA) within the four-week warning strike._

However, the union choose to roll—over the strike action for *_another eight (8) weeks to give Government more time to address all the issues in concrete terms._*

Therefore, the roll-over strike commenced today, *Monday, 14th of March, 2022 by 12:01 (WAT).*

UNICAL MANAGEMENT ROLLS OUT INTERIM SECURITY MEASURES TO SAFEGUARD INSTITUTION

Following the recent disturbing security situation in the University of Calabar, Management has rolled out interim measures aimed at curtailing the ugly development.

In a release made available to the Public Relations Unit, the following directives were given:

1. night reading in the main campus is banned till further notice

2. night reading is restricted to SLT 2,3, 4 and 5 only

3. all reading activities in the classrooms should end by 10.30pm prompt and thereafter all students are expected to move to their respective hostels

4. movement in and out of Campus is now restricted to 10pm and residents on campus are advised to adhere to the directives

5. all entry points in and out of the University of Calabar other than the main gate will be shut by 7pm daily.

These directives are for the good and safety of our institution and will be reverted as soon as the current situation is brought under control.
