A friend and former classmate of mine recently relocated with his family to Canada as a permanent resident.
Sometimes he reminds me that I played a huge part in influencing his current status. He tells me of the time - a few years ago - when I told him how I had just gotten an International passport for my wife and I.
From his perspective, that single act inspired him to take action too. Soon, he and his wife also got their international passport. As weeks turned into months, and months to years he continually worked on his dream of relocating. Today, he is a permanent resident of Canada.
But it all began with an unconscious influence from my own actions.
Perhaps one of the greatest platforms in life for influencing others is Fatherhood. One privilege of being a Father is that you have a ready made opportunity to be an influence in the lives of your children. When used properly, it leads to blessings for the children, as seen in the scripture quote on display.
Today is !
As Father's, reflect on the impact and influence your life is making on your wife, children and community at large. You wield more power than you realize.
You may be reading this and saying "๐ฐ'๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐."๐
Well, you may not be a Father yet in the biological sense {especially if you're a woman๐๐}, but in the spiritual sense we all get the opportunity to influence lives in some way...as mentors, role models, encouragers and support systems.
Whatever your role...make the most of it in influencing lives positively.
Just like my friend might claim that he is in Canada today, partly because of me.
Someone may start that business ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐...
Another one may go back to school, ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐...
Someone may snap out of the feelings of depression and su***de, ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐!
And the list of possibilities are endless.
It all begins with you as you learn to recognize the power and privilege of "Fatherhood".

I was speaking with a gentleman a couple of weeks ago....and I said something about how our entire lives are created by our "mental pictures".
BOOM!๐ฅ
It was as though I had kicked him in the groin. He said that I was talking like a motivational speaker.
He said people needed real help. Businessmen need loans. Someone in business needs to show you how to do the business and help you with the finances.
He was speaking about the "tangibles".
He didn't see how "mental pictures" could make a man rich - or poor.

So was Esau.
Esau couldn't understand how something as intangible as "Birthright" had anything to do with him satisfying his current hunger!
In my Nigerian imagination, I can almost hear Esau cuss underneath his breath, "๐๐๐ค ๐๐๐ง๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐๐๐ฉ ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ?".๐
It didn't take him too long however to realize that: ๐ฏ๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐!
Jacob had received the Birthright in that transaction....it was only natural that he would collect the blessing of their Father Isaac.

Okay, for packaging sake let me rephrase that...
My wife is a fashion designer (wify ,happy now?)
But there's a problem.
Since the lock-down, she has been at home. No customers. No income
We had a conversation
What she needs now is to look for how to increase her online presence e.g by putting training videos online for a fee. That way she can make money in her sleep - COVID lock-down or not. Shikenah!
Regardless of your type of business, laundryman, auto repairer, real estate agent, it doesn't matter. Your task is to discover how to make your business have a meaningful and profitable online presence.
Trust me, if there's one thing the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us, it is this: TO RE-EVALUATE OUR BUSINESS MODELS IN THE LIGHT OF CURRENT REALITIES

When last did you hear something like this in church?
I have often wondered why the index of so often mentioned by people is promotion, acquisition of property, etc.
So when that person buys a car, builds a house, gets promoted in the job, becomes the selected candidate for the job out of several job seekers, we shout " "
While those surely can be grace in manifestation, it truly bothers me that we only mention grace for material increase but scarcely anybody mentions grace in relation to character development.
I will want to hear more people say "grace made this fellow more humble, loving, kind," etc.

โข~~~ Lessons from my smartphone ~~~โข
So I decided to do a few things on this morning
I realized that the app wasn't responding as it should. Pictures wouldn't load, pages will just "skip". Damn!!!
Well, trust me, as a sharp guy I knew what to do. I dashed to Play Store.
True to my suspicion, the app needed update. I tapped on the "update" button and that was all
Suddenly my mind went to my wife. I have come to understand those moments when she just wouldn't "cooperate" as she should
At such times I have come to realize that all I needed was to "up" my game ๐. And each time I do so, it works.
Now guys, while the specifics may differ, the principle is the same. Your own upgrade might be taking her out, increasing her monthly financial stipend, or listening to her more often.
The list is however a bit longer than this๐ฎ
So when next your wife, girlfriend starts acting up or as we say "making faces", take my advice. It's time to update/upgrade.
Well, what do I know. I just learnt that from observing my . ๐
