CENTRE HOLDS FIRST QUARTER MEETING: Reviews Fish Farming Progress, Cooperative Society Updates, and Sustainability Strategies
The Centre's Expanded Management Committee gathered today for a productive first-quarter meeting, reviewing comprehensive reports on activities since our last session in December 2025. Key highlights included impressive advancements in our fish farming initiatives and the thriving cooperative society, both driving economic empowerment and food security in our community.
Presided over by our Centre Director, Dr. Abdullahi Mohammed, the discussions delved into critical sustainability measures to ensure long-term impact and resilience against challenges.
Dr. Mohammed expressed heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated staff for their unwavering commitment and tireless work in actualizing the Centre's core mandates.

TETFUND VERIFICATION TEAM VISITS CENTRE, REVIEWS SUBMISSIONS
Yesterday Tuesday 14th April, 2026, a verification team the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) visited the Centre to verify claims earlier submitted to the Fund by the Centre.
The Team, led by Haj. Ubaida Sunusi first paid a courtesy call on the Management of the Polytechnic, where the Deputy Rector, Dr. Dalhatu Sa'idu Abubakar received them on behalf of the Rector.
At the Centre, the Team reviewed the submission which consists of the following:
1. Annual Work Plan
2. Procurement Plan
3. Organic Farming Training
4. Irrigated Pasture Production for Spin-off Entrepreneurs
5. International Accreditation
6. Journal Publication
7. Internally Generated Revenue
After the verification, the Team was taken round the Centre's Demonstration Farm by the Centre Director Dr. Abdullahi Mohammed, alongside other management staff, to see progress on the varieties of farming activities being undertaken by the Centre.
Haj. Ubaida expressed satisfaction with the pace of development in the Centre and urged the Management to maintain the tempo.

TETFUND ASSESSMENT TEAM VISITS CENTRE AGAIN, EXPRESSES SATISFACTION WITH PROGRESS
A five-man assessment team from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) visited the Centre today, February 11, 2026.
Led by Prof. Hayward Mafuyai, the team paid a courtesy call on the Rector of the Polytechnic, Alh. Sani Usman. They explained that the visit aimed to engage with the Centre's staff, identify key operational challenges, and provide recommendations for effectively delivering its mandate.
In response, the Rector thanked TETFund for the visit. He highlighted the Polytechnic's ongoing efforts in research and development, focusing on sustainable agricultural practices and community involvement to maximize impact.
The team also toured the Centre's Demonstration Farm, where they observed prototyping of integrated farming systems.
In their remarks, team members expressed satisfaction with the improvements since the previous assessment in January 2025.
After inspecting the cattle and goat pens, fish ponds, pasture fields, and irrigation areas, the team advised the Centre to limit its memoranda of understanding to a few organizations whose activities align directly with TCoEIFS's operational mandate.
They urged the Centre to expand the Demonstration Farm, experiment with hybridizing local crops, and avoid using crude implements.
Other team members included Prof. Fatima Batul Mukhtar from Azman University, Kano; Prof. Badayi M. Sani from Bayero University, Kano; Prof. Mu'awiya Abarshi from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; and Haj. Amina Yerima from TETFund.

The meeting which was held between Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th 2025 took a review of the activities undertaken, achievements recorded, challenges encountered and charted a new course for the Centre as the year comes to a successful end.
The Centre Director, Dr. Abdullahi Mohammed presided over the meeting assisted by the Deputy Director Abubakar Ibrahim, in the presence of the Chairman Technical Advisory Committee Dr. Adamu Wakili together with Key Officers as well as all Programme Coordinators.

TETFUND VERIFICATION TEAM PRAISES CENTRE'S PROGRESS
The Centre on Tuesday 14th October, 2025, received a verification team from TETFund Headquarters, Abuja. The team, led by Haj. Ubaida Sunusi, visited to assess the implementation of activities and review requests made by the Centre in line with its Annual Work Plan.
The delegation was welcomed by the Polytechnic’s Rector, Alhaji Sani Usman, who expressed deep gratitude to TETFund for its continuous and impactful support, especially for the remarkable developments at the Centre of Excellence.
The verification team held detailed discussions with the Centre's management, examining submitted reports and documents before conducting an on-the-ground inspection of upgraded equipment, new furniture, and the recently completed Demonstration Farm.
Haj. Ubaida expressed satisfaction with the level of progress at the Centre as a lot has been put in place since their last visit in December of 2024.
Dr. Abdullahi Mohammed, Director of the Centre, along with his team, guided the team during the evaluation. He thanked TETFund for the recent upgrades and assured full compliance with the agency’s guidelines and standards moving forward.
This inspection is part of TETFund’s routine for verifying requests by its COEs in exercise of its critical role as the funding agency.
