The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has distributed eighteen (18) mini buses to Quality Assurance Officers across the eighteen (18) Local Government Areas in Edo State. This strategic initiative is aimed at strengthening the monitoring and supervision of basic education across the state to ensure effective service delivery within the education sector.
The provision of the vehicles will greatly enhance the mobility and operational efficiency of the Quality Assurance Officers, enabling them to carry out regular inspection, monitoring and evaluation of schools in both urban and rural communities. Through improved supervision, the officers will be better positioned to assess teaching standards, monitor school activities, identify challenges affecting learning and provide timely recommendations for improvement.
This intervention further demonstrates the commitment of the Edo State Government, through Edo SUBEB and UBEC, towards improving the quality of basic education and creating a conducive learning environment for learners. The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to improved teaching and learning outcomes, accountability and the overall development of the education.
The Executive Chairman of Edo SUBEB, Hon. Ebanehita Sonia Omonzane, appreciated the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and the UBEC body for their continuous support towards basic education in Edo State.

Early exposure to smoking and harmful environments can destroy a child’s future before it even begins. Every child deserves proper guidance, protection and a safe learning environment.
The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) rescued a minor allegedly found smoking during school hours. This serves as a strong reminder to parents, guardians, schools and society at large to remain vigilant and actively monitor the activities, associations and environments surrounding our children.
Smoking at an early age can lead to:
*Serious health complications and addiction
*Poor academic performance
*Emotional and behavioral problems
*Exposure to crime, substance abuse, and violence
*Loss of focus, discipline, and future opportunities
Children exposed to dangerous environments are more likely to adopt harmful habits that negatively affect their growth and development. It is our collective responsibility to guide, educate, and protect them from negative influences.
Let us work together to ensure our children remain in school, stay protected, and grow into responsible leaders of tomorrow.
If you train a child today, you build a better nation tomorrow!
