EDO SUBEB HOLDS CLUSTER-BASED TRAINING FOR THE 2025 SBMC-SIP PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION SUB-COMMITTEE

The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (Edo SUBEB) in collaboration with UBEC has held a cluster-based training for members of the 2025 School-Based Management Committee–School Improvement Programme (SBMC-SIP) Project Implementation Sub-Committee (PISC).

The training was designed to equip participants with the knowledge required for effective project implementation, monitoring, financial management and accountability.

Under the 2025 UBEC SBMC-SIP Special Project, selected schools have been approved to receive a ₦5 million grant to execute projects aimed at improving their learning environment. The grant is being disbursed in two instalments, with ₦3.75 million (75%) released as the first instalment and ₦1.25 million (25%) to be released subsequently.

Participants were also trained on procurement procedures, proper documentation, stakeholder responsibilities, project completion and maintenance, with emphasis on ensuring that projects meet UBEC standards.

The initiative reflects Edo SUBEB’s commitment to transparency, community participation and the effective delivery of sustainable projects that improve basic education across the state.

MANAGEMENT OF THE EDO STATE COMMISSION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO EDO SUBEB EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN

The Chairman of the Edo State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Mr. Theophilus Egbodion, alongside the Special Assistant to the Governor on Persons with Disabilities, Hon. Yinusa Abdulsalam, and other officials of the Commission, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (Edo SUBEB), Hon. Ayewoh Ambrose Oyakhilomen.

During the visit, the delegation expressed appreciation to the Edo State Government for establishing the Commission and highlighted key challenges affecting persons with disabilities, particularly the need for accessible schools, adequate boarding facilities, and greater inclusion in the education system.

The delegation emphasised that persons with disabilities are capable, intelligent and eager to learn, stressing the importance of creating an inclusive environment where they can access quality education and fully benefit from government programmes and the dividends of democracy.

Speaking on the issue, the Functioning Director of Special Programmes and Early Childhood Department, Edo SUBEB, Ms. Anita Obasuyi, disclosed that there are special schools across some Local Government Areas in the state. She noted that while the Board continues to create awareness about these schools, enrolment remains relatively low.

She therefore called on the Commission to leverage its position and networks to intensify public awareness and encourage parents and guardians to enrol children with special needs in the appropriate schools.

In his response, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ayewoh Ambrose Oyakhilomen, appreciated the delegation for the visit and commended its commitment to improving the welfare and educational opportunities of persons with disabilities.

He noted that measures are already being put in place to strengthen special-needs education, adding that his visits to some special schools have shown him the enthusiasm and determination of the children to learn and succeed.

Hon. Ayewoh further assured the delegation that the concerns raised would be communicated to the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, who remains committed to ensuring that no Edo child is left behind in accessing quality and inclusive basic education.

EDO SUBEB CHAIRMAN, HON. AYEWOH AMBROSE OYAKHILOME PAYS THANK YOU VISIT TO PRINCE ODIANOSEN HENRY OKOJIE AT THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY, ABUJA, OVER SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURE IN ESAN NORTH EAST/SOUTH EAST FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY.

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Ayewoh Ambrose Oyakhilome, paid a thank you visit to the Member representing Esan North East / South East Federal Constituency, Hon. (Prince) Odianosen Henry Okojie.

Hon. Ayewoh commended Prince Okojie for his massive infrastructural interventions in public schools across the constituency, describing him as a worthy partner in the development of education in Edo State.

He said Okojie's projects which include construction of a block of six (6) classrooms at Eguare Primary School, Ewatto, construction of two (2) classrooms with furniture and solar system at Idumuje-Eguare Primary School, Ewohimi, provision of an ICT laboratory at Ewatto Grammar School, ICT Laboratory at Girls Modern, Ubiaja and the newly reconstructed edifice at Our Lady of Lourdes Girls Grammar School, Uromi, as well as distribution of furniture, school bags, notebooks and instructional materials to over 10 primary schools in Uromi, (Ukoni, Efandion, Awo, Obeidu)etc, have complemented the efforts of the state government.

According to the Edo SUBEB boss, "building of schools for our learners is a sacrifice that attracts divine reward."

Hon. Ayewoh, who was recently appointed as Edo SUBEB Chairman by Governor Monday Okpebholo having previously served as Chairman of Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency (RARA), assured that the Board will continue to collaborate with federal lawmakers to improve learning outcomes across the state.

In his response, Prince Odi Okojie thanked the Edo SUBEB leadership for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to continue lobbying for initiatives that nurture educational excellence in Esanland.

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (Edo SUBEB), Hon. Ayewoh Ambrose Oyakhilome, held a strategic meeting with the management of the Board and its contractors to foster collaboration and advance the development of basic education in Edo State.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the Chairman to formally engage with the contractors, familiarise himself with their operations, and discuss ways to strengthen working relationships in the delivery of educational projects across the state.

Discussions focused on the importance of teamwork, effective communication, and addressing challenges that may arise in the ex*****on of contracts. The Chairman emphasised the need for all stakeholders to work together towards achieving the Board’s objectives and ensuring the successful implementation of its projects.

During the meeting, contract letters were presented to the contractors, marking a step towards the commencement and ex*****on of their respective assignments.

Hon. Ayewoh Ambrose Oyakhilome appreciated the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his administration’s commitment to the development of the education sector. The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Yekini Idiaye, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (Edo SUBEB), Hon. Ayewoh Ambrose Oyakhilomen.

EDO SUBEB COMMENCE SCHOOL MONITORING AS SCHOOL RESUMES ACROSS EDO STATE.

The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (Edo SUBEB) has commenced school monitoring across the state as schools resume for the new academic session.

The Executive Chairman of Edo SUBEB, Hon. Ayewoh Ambrose Oyakhilome, alongside directors and other officials of the Board, embarked on monitoring visits to various schools in Benin City to assess their readiness for the resumption of academic activities.

In his remark, Hon Ayewoh commends the activities of the school visited, applaud the teacher for teaching on the first day of resumption and appreciates the staff of EDO SUBEB for the effort put in the back to school awareness

The monitoring exercise is aimed at ensuring that schools are prepared to welcome pupils and teachers, while assessing the availability of essential facilities and the overall learning environment.

EDO SUBEB IN COLLABORATION WITH UNIVERSAL BASIC EDUCATION COMMISSION (UBEC) CONCLUDES BACK-TO-SCHOOL CAMPAIGN WITH MASSIVE DISTRIBUTION OF LEARNING AND WRITING MATERIALS

The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in collaboration with Ubec Abuja Ubec has successfully concluded its Back-to-School Campaign with a massive distribution of learning and writing materials to support learners across the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State.

The event featured the distribution of essential educational materials, including school bags, sandals, notebooks, and other learning materials, as well as motorcycles and Samsung tablets for Education Officers across the 18 LGAs to aid proper school monitoring.

The programme brought together dignitaries and key stakeholders from the Edo State House of Assembly, UBEC State coordinator Mrs Gloria Lawani, Ministry of Education, the wider education sector, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and other government officials.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Edo SUBEB, Hon. Ayewoh Ambrose Oyakhilomen, commended the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his continued commitment to strengthening basic education and ensuring that every Edo child has access to quality education and to the UBEC for always in steady partnership/collaboration with Edo SUBEB.

The campaign concluded successfully, with Education Officers receiving the materials for onward distribution across their respective LGAs.

This initiative is aimed at supporting learners, particularly those facing challenges, and ensuring that no child is left behind in accessing quality education.

Together, we are building a stronger foundation for the future of every Edo child.
