*21ST CENTURY TEACHERS : UNDERSTAND THE PARADIGM SHIFT*
It is important the narrative of teachers and educators is redrafted in conformity with 21st century ethos and dictune
We must acknowledged the world is changing and the dynamism fast evolving with 21st century spectacular demand. Globally, all professions, Education inclusive are yielding to the norms demanded to navigate this century but Africa is moving at exceedingly slow rate.
Hence the topic of choice tonight,
*"21st century teachers: understanding the paradigm shift "* to share my humble thoughts will my colleagues here present
*21st century teachers : understanding the paradigm shift*
✍️Personality redefinition
✍️Communication finishing
✍️Enliving delivery pedagogy
✍️Remodeling delivery mode
✍️Understanding the psychomotor generic learners
✍️Self worth reappraisal
*PERSONALITY RE-DEFINITION*
Teachers before now sees themselves as most denied , deprived and disowned and the carriage has been like that. The complex seems inferior
It is important 21 century teachers see themselves as the driver of the society. The society is eternally knowledge- driven . The 21st century is particularly and aggressively driven by knowledge.
The 21st century teachers should consider knowledge as treasure and themselves as treasurer , the keeper of global treasury.
We must redefine wealth and richness and consider one self as rich in knowledge and character thereby undoing the complex of a poor being.
This is because a *poor person is one devoid of knowledge and character, even if he has the world at his or her tips*
*COMMUNICATION FINISHING*
A teacher communicate in his entire professional life. He communicate the ideals and tradition so cherished and valued by the society and blended into a curriculum.
We must be proficient in the tools at any age and ahead of our time. This saying an educator is a visionary that communicate future, now
The 21 century teachers should imbibe the projecting verbal and non verbal communication of this century. Your verbal languages are the appropriate, refine and finesse speech for all occasions.
We understand and master the official language of office, the language of instructional delivery , the language of community enlightenment , the language in hard and soft copy.
The 21st century teachers should master the means of communication from paper work to learning and digital machines .
A 21st century teachers should know it's a digital world and the communication mode, means and channels has experienced irreversible change.
There should be nobody here who does not know how to prepare and or deliver a lesson or speech using Microsoft PowerPoint or handle projector.
Note that, the world of Education has left paper or hard copies phase except we got stucked to paper here because of endemic corruption in our Education like other sectors.
*ENLIVING DELIVERY PEDAGOGY*
21 century teachers must not preside over a mortuary class .
A mortuary class is where kids stood still with no participation or input. We make our class constructively active , lively , engaging, involving and interesting .
We must put up a charming personality and fantastic delivery mode.
We must come with captivating examples and relevant instructional resources that will drive home our lessons and make the experience enjoyable .
We must situate our interactions with the young minds such that they will look forward to your class and will cry when they miss you.
*REMODELING DELIVERY MODE*
It is important we make our delivery change attire . The world has changed tools of instructional delivery .
We must innovate, we must initiate , we must create global practice of instructional delivery .
For instance, placing pictures on cardboard is more global than drawing on cardboard. Using this must make you explore clip arts and other sources of getting best of close- to -real pictures that will give life to your lesson and inject interest in your delivery.
You should learn to prepare your note in soft copy and perfect how to handle projector , other learning machines.
We must avail our selves as well with all kinds of learning resources generously made available by goggle and otherwise education volunteers on the internet ( check the following websites to access more resources- www.khanacademy.com/ www.makemegenius.com)
*UNDERSTANDING THE PSYCHOMOTOR- GENERIC LEARNERS*
The 21st century teachers must not be caught in the web. The learners in your hand are not the same old learners . The global dynamism , technological inventions and social reengineering has thrown up almost entirely new set of learners.
I am aware the curriculum designers are not taking this to cognizance as they still produce largely cognitive centered content with lip service to technical and entrepreneurship Education.
The students in your hand as 21 century teachers are *psychomotor generic learners*. These are generations of learners who drift more towards learning more by physical activity than cognitive and rote learning.
They wanted to experience knowledge and not to gulp or memorize knowledge. They find happiness in activity-based subjects , find joy and interest in laboratory and or sport on the field.
They want to learn to apply and want to see the result of efforts within shortest possible time . Therefore you must be engaging and interesting in your interactive moment
*SELF WORTH RE-APPRAISAL*
A 21st century teachers must reappraised self and get his or her worth properly.
*What is your worth to the society , a factor to social reengineering and more, to the family, a moulder of human asset and more, to the country a breeder of worthy citizens and more , to the learners the custodian of future mould and more.*
If you asses your worth properly you will come by your invaluability , and your carriage will undo inferiority complex.
We discovered teacher before now possibly miscalculated his or her worth and therefore suffer from near inferiority complex
*CONCLUSION*
We must note the below as key points and a summary:
👉Applicability Technology(
Social media- Youtube,others)
👉Teaching with love and not wickedness
👉Sense of humour as learning driver.
Historical/ pictorial introduction to difficult topics.
👉Teachers beyond a be**er of children but likable model.

*WORDS FREQUENTLY USED IN NIGERIA NOT FOUND IN THE DICTIONARY*
1. *Installmentally:*
This “word” is a favourite of many Nigerians, but, sadly, it simply does not exist. You won’t find it any reputable dictionary. The correct thing to say when “installmentally” comes to your mind is in _"instalments"_ or _"by instalments"_.
*2. Plumpy:*
Nigerians use _“plumpy”_ when they want to say that someone is chubby or slightly fat. The correct expression is _plump_.
3. *Disvirgin:*
This particular “word” is used severally on a daily basis, especially by Nigerian men when they intend saying that a woman has lost her virginity to a guy. The correct word to use, however, is _"deflower"_, because “disvirgin” is not a word.
4. *Crosscarpeting:*
This is a favourite of Nigerian politicians and political analysts alike. They use it when they want to say that a politician has dumped his political party for another party, usually a rival party. The right terms to use when describing this scenario are _"party switching"_, _"defection"_ and _"crossing the floor"_ and not “cross-carpeting” or “crosscarpeting.”
5. *Go-Slow 😗
The word go-slow exists, but not in the way Nigerians use it. A “go-slow,” in the peculiarly Nigerian context, is a situation in which road traffic is very sluggish due to vehicle queues. However, go-slow in the English language actually means _"an industrial tactic used by employees whereby they intentionally reduce activity, productivity and efficiency in order to press home some demands"_. When this happens, you say that work in the office, factory or organization is at a go-slow. The correct terms to use when road traffic is very sluggish due to vehicle queues are _"traffic jam"_, _"traffic congestion"_, _"gridlock"_, and (less technically) _"hold-up"_, not “go-slow.”
6. *C***y:*
“C***y” is not found in authoritative dictionaries, but it can be found in some slang dictionaries. Over there, it is a slang used to refer to a woman’s private part. The correct term to use is _"cunning"_ (which is used to describe someone that is being deceitful or crafty) and not “cunny.”
7. *Opportuned:*
There is nothing like “opportuned” anywhere in the English language, but that has not stopped its blatant use by all and sundry in Nigeria, including journalists and writers. The correct word is _"opportune"_. The word opportune is an adjective; therefore it has no past tense. An adjective has no past tense. However, some verbs can function as adjectives or adverbs in a sentence. These verbs are called participles and they do have past tenses. They are not pure adjectives. Examples of participles are fattened, amused, disgusted, mystified, overwhelmed, upset and bored. Be that as it may, opportune is a pure adjective and not a participle, therefore it has no past tense. Opportune means appropriate or well-timed.
8. *Alright:*
“Alright” is a misspelling of the term _"all right"_. All right is used when you want to say that something is adequate, acceptable, agreeable or suitable. To hardcore English language linguists, “alright” is not a word. However, its usage is gaining traction and it’s increasingly becoming acceptable. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary – which is considered the gold standard among American English speakers – has recently drawn a lot of criticisms for its permissiveness when it began indexing some otherwise colloquial and street language terms, including “alright.” Most linguists disagree with the gradual acceptance of “alright” as a word by the public and even the media, while those in the minority are “alright” with it. 😁
9. *Wake-Keeping:*
“Wake-keeping” exists only in the imagination of a few English speakers. As a matter of fact, there is no such thing as “wake-keeping.” The correct word is _"wake"_ and not even “wake-keep.” Both “wake-keeping” and “wake-keep” are ungrammatical.
10. *Screentouch:*
This bad grammatical expression gained currency in Nigeria and neighbouring West African countries with the influx of made-in-China stylus pen touchscreen not-so-smart phones in the mid 2000s. It was a novelty then; many in Nigeria had not seen it – or even thought such advanced technology was possible – before. So, they looked for a name to call it and “screentouch” came to mind, after all you just touch the screen and it starts working. In case you’ve still not figured it out yet, the correct thing to say is _"touchscreen"_ and not screentouch.
11. *Trafficator*
There is no word like this. Nigerians use it when driving and want to alert other road users that the driver wants to turn to either left or right. The correct term is _"indicator"_ as a sign to indicate that the driver is either turning right or left.
