Beneath the Weary Wheel
WISDOM ERHABOR
In the heart of Nigeria, where buses roam,
I steer through the streets, a driver far from home.
But lately, my friend, my spirit feels frayed,
For the burdens I bear cannot easily fade.
The fuel pump price, it soared to the skies,
From 205 to 620, it now lies.
Oh, how it shackles my meager earnings,
Leaving my dreams and hopes slowly burning.
Passengers board, unaware of my plight,
Their frustration mounting, a brewing fight.
But in this verse, I seek to explain,
To bridge the gap, to ease their disdain.
Dear passengers, I beseech you now,
To understand the struggle etched on my brow.
In these troubled times, we're all bound to suffer,
Yet unity can make our burdens buffer.
The rising costs, beyond my control,
Have taken a toll on my humble role.
The fuel that propels us along the way,
Now demands a price we must all pay.
I, too, feel the pinch, the pain in my chest,
As I face the anguish of being bereft.
But let's not turn anger into a blaze,
Instead, let's find empathy in these trying days.
For when we collide, in fiery dispute,
Remember, my friend, we share the same route.
Our journeys entwined in this vast transit,
Let's foster understanding, bit by bit.
I'm just a driver, a soul on the wheel,
Seeking solace in words, my thoughts to reveal.
So, let patience guide us amidst the rough tide,
And empathy be the beacon by which we abide.
Together, let's weather this tempestuous storm,
With empathy, respect, and compassion in our norm.
For in unity, we'll find a glimmer of peace,
And amidst the chaos, our grievances will cease.
So, dear passengers, I implore you to see,
The struggles I face, the weight upon me.
Let's traverse this journey with hearts intertwined,
And sow seeds of understanding, forever aligned.
In the heart of Nigeria, where buses roam,
Let compassion and reason find their home.
May this verse be a plea, a heartfelt decree,
To bridge the divide and set our spirits free.
