Ransomware attacks remain one of the most significant contemporary cybersecurity threats, impacting organizations and individuals globally. From high-profile breaches in healthcare and industrial sectors—compromising vast amounts of sensitive data or completely halting production—to attacks on small businesses, ransomware actors are increasingly expanding their reach.

Notable ransomware variants include BlackHunt, Rhysida, Akira, Mallox, 3AM etc.

To bolster your defenses against ransomware, consider implementing the following strategies:

1. Disable unused services and ports to reduce the attack surface.

2. Keep all systems and software updated with regular updates and patches.

3. Conduct regular pe*******on tests and vulnerability scans to promptly identify and address vulnerabilities.

4. Provide comprehensive cybersecurity training to employees to raise awareness of cyber threats and best practices for mitigation.

5. Establish and maintain regular backups of critical data, and regularly test backup and recovery procedures. (Very important)

6. Use Threat Intelligence to monitor the latest tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) used by ransomware groups and adjust your detection mechanisms accordingly.

7. Pay special attention to any new software being run or installed on systems within your network, including legitimate software.

AWS's New Charge for Public IPv4 Addresses

From February 2024 if you're using IPv4 for you AWS resources you have to be paying $3.6 per month for a single IP which means $0.005 per IP per hour.
