PEACE:
There was a time when I thought the chaos meant I was alive.
The rushing, the proving, the constant noise inside my head and all around me… I wore it like proof that I was important, that I was needed, that I hadn’t been left behind.
But the years have a way of softening the edges. Quietly. Gently. And somewhere along the way, I started noticing how heavy the noise had become. How it left little room for the still, small voice I used to hear so clearly when I was younger.
Now, when the world spins too fast, I find myself stepping back. Sitting in the quiet. Letting the morning light fall across the room without needing to fill the silence. And in those moments, something deeper rises—something that feels like home.
Peace isn’t emptiness. It’s the presence of God in the spaces I used to crowd with worry and striving. It’s the soul finally being allowed to breathe. It’s remembering that I was never meant to carry every battle, every opinion, every urgency.
At this age, I’ve come to understand: chaos will always call my name. It knows my old habits. But peace… peace is the invitation of the Spirit. It doesn’t demand. It simply waits for me to choose it.
And I’m choosing it more often now.
Choosing stillness over reaction.
Choosing trust over control.
Choosing the quiet confidence that I am held, even when everything around me feels uncertain.
The older I get, the more I realize that a peaceful heart is not a small thing. It is sacred ground. And protecting it is one of the holiest things I can do with the years I have left.
May we all learn to lay down the chaos… and rest in the peace that was always waiting for us.
