“The Child Who Was Afraid to Make Mistakes”
“Is this correct?”
The little boy looked at his mother.
She nodded.
He erased his answer.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, sweetheart. Try it.”
He looked at the page again.
Then quietly said:
“What if I get it wrong?”
That question stopped her.
He wasn't afraid of the lesson.
He was afraid of making a mistake.
And sometimes, children become so worried about being wrong that they stop raising their hands, asking questions, trying new things, or attempting difficult tasks.
So she smiled and said:
“It's okay to get it wrong. That's how we learn.” ❤️
Parents, our children don't need to believe they will always be right.
They need to know that being wrong doesn't make them less capable, less loved, or less worthy.
Celebrate the attempt.
Encourage the effort.
Let them try again.
And when they make a mistake, remind them:
“You didn't fail. You discovered one way that didn't work. Let's try another.”
Because a child who isn't afraid to make mistakes can become a child who isn't afraid to learn, explore, and grow. 🌱
