Celebrating your 9th priestly anniversary is a deep moment of reflection and thanksgiving for us. For all the virtues you have entrenched through spiritual, moral and academic leadership and the growth the entire Seminary community is witnessing under you, we are grateful to God for this day and may He continue to sustain you in His mercy. Happy priestly anniversary our amiable Rector.

The cultural department at SHS will surely miss the duo of Ogunleye Ebenezer and Falana Iyanuoluwa, for their giant strides in learning and culture. Their mastery of Yoruba poems and didactic folklore/poetry are unmatched. Also, both of them have anchored school events and also represented the school at various competitions. Cheerio! to our SS 3 class of 2016. It is not the goodbye that hurts but the flashbacks that follow.

It is the season of saying goodbye to our outgoing SS 3 students who have walked the walk and weathered the storm. It is evident that their journey through this citadel of learning and formation is about to witness another watershed. And this time around they are better prepared for it than they were six years ago. On a lighter note.. They should endeavour to relive all that they had while they were here: meals both hot and cold; prayers both genuine and pseudo and even knowledge both useful and unworkable... It is not the goodbye that hurts but the flashbacks that follow. Cheerio!

It was a glorious, emotional and yet fulfilled sunset that descended on the administration of Rev. Fr. Valentine OMOLAKIN (Dean of Students, Sacred Heart Seminary, Akure from 2005 to 2011 and Rector, Sacred Heart Seminary, Akure from April 2011 to Jan 2016.)
On January 25, 2016 when he finally bid farewell to the Minor Seminary after a meritorious and laudable eleven years of incredible mentorship, leadership and dedication to the citadel of formation as Dean of Students and Rector. Because he has endeared himself to the hearts of the students, staff, parents and alumni of Sacred Heart Seminary, Akure, his transfer was rather a rude shock to many not because he was destined to be in Seminary for more years to come but for his doggedness and charismatic persona, it was hard to say goodbye.
The day, 25th of January 2016 marked a significant departure. It was more than a casual “see you later” or a mumbled “thanks for everything” it is not even the everyday “farewell” you see, rather it was a day of fulfillment which intermittently ended with the phrase “I can’t tell you how difficult it is to describe how emotional I am to be leaving”. In the words of the former Rector, Fr. OMOLAKIN, he recounted that when he got here about eleven years ago, he would never have realized how connected he would be to such a warm community of people he was leaving behind. He acknowledged that being close to perfection was one of the greatest challenges he had and which he always strives to achieve in whatever he lays his hands upon throughout the length of his administration.
He admonished the students to imbibe the guiding principles of the school which were the bedrock of his impactful years in the Seminary some of which are “Primus Inter Pares” first among equals and “Per Ardu Ad Astra” From difficulty to success in all their endevours. He implored the staff and students to cooperate with the incoming administration to be led by Fr. Rufus Omobusuyi KUTEYI just as they did for him to ensure a seamless continuity.
All the societies and clubs in the school notably, the SHS Press, Editorial Board and the Bishop’s Guards were on hand to mark the day in a special way which will be remembered for the sunset not at dawn but the one that brought tears of joy on people’s faces.
All and sundry were humbled by the kindness of his heart, his great sense of humuor put smiles on everyone’s face, huge charismatic leadership, pastoral lifestyle and unmatched performance in his eventful eleven years in the Seminary. Fr. ‘Omoo’ as he is fondly called is greatly missed by the Seminary community, St. Albert FUTA chaplaincy community and everyone who has worked with him in these glorious years. It is our prayers that may the Almighty God continue to sustain him in his vineyard and show him His mercy in his new parish, Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Akure
