MINISTRY BEYOND THE PULPIT

Sometime ago, I went to visit one of our members at his business location. When I stepped in, the atmosphere I saw, together with the people working with and for him, inspired me greatly. After blessing everyone and the business, I took him aside and said, “What you have here is beyond business. This is ministry.”

Friend, you need to see ministry beyond the pulpit (1 Timothy 4:12). Sadly, for a lot of people, once there is no pulpit, there is no ministry. Today’s Christians must be taught how to discharge ministry outside the four walls of the local church (Acts 1:8).

If church members see ministry beyond the pulpit, they will stop dragging the pulpit with their pastors on Sunday (Ephesians 4:11-12). The church is the place where believers are equipped to carry out ministry to the world. We need believers who take ministry to their workplaces, homes, schools, etc. (Acts 17:6, 17).

Every believer has the responsibility to make Jesus known everywhere (1 Peter 2:9). Preaching is just one method, not the only method. As a wise man once said, “Preach the gospel, and if necessary, use words.” The way you live your life and carry out your career and business should reveal Jesus (Acts 18:1-4, 24-28). That is ministry.

If we limit ministry to the four walls of the local church, we will not reach the world that desperately needs Jesus (Mark 16:15-20). Some people may never enter our churches, but they should meet real Christians in their places of engagement. God wants to use us to establish His kingdom in our spheres (Revelation 11:15).

Your influence and affluence must be used to discharge ministry. Otherwise, it is a waste of divine investment (Matthew 5:13-16). What are you doing with the influence God has given you? Like Dorcas, who have you touched with the resources Heaven placed at your disposal (Acts 9:36-43)? You need to think ministry beyond the pulpit.

Divine provision is tied to divine vision. When you locate yourself in God's vision, you are already part of His supply chain.

BLESSINGS & LESSONS

As an undergraduate, I listened to seniors who told us, “Campus life isn’t real life. Wait till you step out.” Those words always made me uneasy. I had to remind myself: this is reality, too. The faith I used on campus is the same faith I’ll need after campus. I just have to transfer it.

Friend, what have you learned from your past blessings and victories? You will need them for the giants ahead (1 Samuel 17:34-37). The problem is, we forget what God did yesterday, so we struggle to trust Him today. Remembering helps us thank Him right, and it also charges our faith (Psalm 103:2).

The truth is, wherever you are and whoever you are, God has been good to you before (Psalm 103:1-5). Don’t let the size of today’s problem erase the proof of yesterday’s victory. If He did it before, He can do it again. Your testimony is a weapon (Revelation 12:11).

What has God brought you out of? What has He done for you in the past (1 Samuel 17:37)? Every encounter with God is a seed for the next one. Don't waste the experience, so you don't waste the seed and forfeit the future. Don't forget where God took you from.

You need to own your experience. Don’t let anyone talk you out of it (1 Samuel 17:33). Value it. Celebrate it. Use it. It may look small to others, but it cannot be small in your eyes. If God made a way in the past, He can make a way now. If He provided for you before, He can provide again (Matthew 16:8-10).

Life gives you blessings and lessons (Psalm 103:7). Every blessing carries a lesson inside it. Don’t just enjoy the blessing. Extract the lesson. David didn’t just kill a lion; he learned how God fights. That’s why he could face Goliath and repeat the win (1 Samuel 17:34-37). Blessings are God’s acts. Lessons are God’s ways.

ANGELS ON ASSIGNMENT

I was at an event years ago, and each table had waiters assigned to it. 2-3 of them stood by, watching, waiting for us to make a request. They were there to serve, but they only moved when we spoke. It reminded me about angels on assignment.

Friend, angels have been assigned to your life and destiny. They are part of God’s provision for His children. They were sent to serve you and help fulfil your destiny (Mark 1:13). But they respond to direction. Until you understand their ministry and put them to work, you won’t enjoy all God planned for this season (Hebrews 1:14).

While the Holy Spirit ministers to you, angels minister for you. They can go where you cannot go. They can do what you cannot do. They excel in strength and wait for instructions (Psalm 103:20-21). Your angels are ready, but they need your voice. Your angels take direction from you. They don’t have their own agenda.

Angels are voice-activated. The church is meant to show them wisdom and give them guidance (Ephesians 3:10). They carry out what they hear you say. That’s why careless words are dangerous in the realm of the spirit. They run with what you speak, even if you don’t mean it (Ecclesiastes 5:6).

God has stationed angels for your advantage this season (Psalm 91:11). There are angels of protection for evil days. Angels of harvest for provision. Messenger angels to work on men for you. You don’t have to struggle alone. Be conscious of them. Speak the Word (Matthew 8:9). Put your angels to work today.

What you say to God is prayer. What He says to you is wisdom. Learn to position yourself in prayers for divine wisdom and direction.
