The school is located in a serene, safe and ambient environment at Labak Estate,off Abule Egba and Oko-Oba, Lagos state,Nigeria.The location is very accessible for drop offs & pick ups. OUR SERVICES
The school is currently designed to cater for children with the age range 15 months to 11+ of age and they are grouped into: Creche,Toddlers,Nursery & Primary. We also provide After school services till 6pm. OUR CURRICULUM
We have an effective & age appropriate blend of the Montessori & Nigerian curriculum. Thereby providing the children with the right method of education and relevant information about their present environment and world. OUR STAFF
Our Staff consist of mainly of Graduates who are trained Montessori Teachers with a deep understanding of the method, philosophy and materials to inspire the very best in our children. WHAT MAKES OUR SCHOOL SPECIAL!

Let’s talk about our school, Addlo Montessori Nursery and Primary School.

Addlo Montessori is not simply a school that uses Montessori materials. It is a school built upon a particular understanding of the child.

We believe every child is actively constructing the person they will become.

Our work is therefore not to fill children with information, rush them through milestones or make them compete with one another. It is to understand each child, prepare the right environment and provide experiences that help the child develop naturally and purposefully.

We respect each child’s pace—but this does not mean leaving development to chance. The adult observes carefully, identifies what the child is ready for, offers an appropriate challenge and then gives the child enough time to practise, think, make mistakes and grow in competence.

At Addlo, learning begins with reality and meaningful experiences. Children handle objects, learn to care for themselves and their environment, refine their senses, explore language, investigate ideas and gradually move from concrete experience to abstract understanding.

Practical Life, Sensorial Education, Mathematics, Literacy, Culture and Science are therefore not isolated subjects; together, they support the construction of the whole child.

We want children to become:

* Independent without becoming disconnected from others
* Responsible because they understand their contribution—not merely because they fear punishment
* Disciplined from within, rather than dependent upon constant adult control
* Confident enough to think, question and express ideas
* Academically capable without losing curiosity or joy
* Respectful of themselves, other people and their environment
* Rooted in their African reality while prepared to understand the wider world

Our approach to literacy also reflects this philosophy. We do not want children who can merely pronounce words; we want thoughtful readers who can understand, question, connect, discuss and use language to make meaning of themselves and the world.

We do not measure development only by how much more a child knows. We also ask: Is the child becoming more observant? More independent? More responsible? More thoughtful? More capable of participating meaningfully in family, classroom and community life?

The adult’s preparation is central to this work. Our teachers are expected to observe rather than constantly interrupt, guide without dominating, maintain firm and respectful boundaries, and protect the child’s concentration, dignity and developing will.

Parents are equally important. We see the school not merely as a building children enter each morning, but as a relationship between the child, family and school. That relationship requires communication, trust and a shared commitment to the child’s development.

RESPONSIBILITY GROWS THROUGH PARTICIPATION

“Mummy, the water poured!”

Five-year-old Tami stood beside the table, staring at the puddle on the floor.

Mummy could have complained, taken the cup away and cleaned everything herself.

Instead, she calmly asked, “What can we do?”

Tami thought for a moment, collected a cloth and began wiping the floor. Mummy showed her how to move the cup out of the way and squeeze the wet cloth into a bowl.

The following day, Tami spilled a little water again.

This time, she did not call Mummy.

She fetched the cloth and cleaned it herself.

Something important had begun to develop—not merely the ability to wipe a floor, but the understanding that her actions affected her environment and that she could help restore order.

This is how responsibility grows.

Children do not become responsible simply because adults repeatedly tell them, “Be responsible!”

They develop responsibility when they are allowed to:

* Participate in real family life
* Complete age-appropriate tasks
* Experience the natural results of their actions
* Correct mistakes without shame
* Contribute meaningfully
* Practise until they become competent

Give your child opportunities to set the table, water plants, sort laundry, care for belongings, tidy shared spaces and help prepare simple meals.

The work may not be perfect. It may take longer. There may even be a few spills along the way.

But when adults constantly take over because it is quicker or neater, children lose the opportunity to develop ownership.

Responsibility is not demanded into existence.

It is developed gradually through trust, participation, practice and the quiet satisfaction of being useful. ♥️

YOUR CHILD IS NOT BEHIND

Dear Parent,

Your child is unique—not a slower or faster version of another child.

Children do not all learn, work or master skills at the same pace. Their developmental readiness, interests, experiences, confidence and opportunities for practice are different.

When we compare a child with a sibling, classmate or cousin, we may overlook the progress happening quietly within that child.

Instead of competition and comparison, children need:

* Time to develop
* Patient guidance
* Encouragement
* Meaningful practice
* Appropriate challenges
* Freedom to make mistakes
* Opportunities to try again
* Recognition of their individual progress

How can you help this holiday?

Choose one or two skills your child is ready to strengthen—reading, dressing independently, pouring a drink, tidying up, writing, counting, cooking or expressing ideas.

Keep practice short, enjoyable and consistent. Ten peaceful minutes every day can achieve more than one long, pressured lesson.

Use everyday life. Let your child measure ingredients, count plates, sort laundry, read signs, write a shopping list or calculate change.

Break difficult tasks into smaller steps. Show one step clearly, allow time for practice, and offer only as much help as is necessary.

Ask questions such as, “What do you notice?” “What could you try next?” and “Would you like another attempt?”

Celebrate specific progress: “You concentrated for longer today,” or “You remembered that step without my help.”

Please do not ask, “Why can’t you do it like your brother?” Ask instead, “What support will help you take your next step?”

Competence is not produced through pressure. It grows through purposeful activity, repetition, encouragement and the child’s own effort.

This holiday, do not measure your child against someone else’s journey.

Help them become more capable than they were yesterday—one small step at a time. 💚

One thing parenthood has taught me is that children don't always need us to buy them things.

Sometimes they just want us to be there. They need to know that they belong.

One thing becomes clearer the more I work with children:

Connection matters.

The child who feels seen at home, who knows he belongs, often carries that confidence into school.

Let's give our children our presence, not just our presents.

We are focused on raising leaders and will show up for each child and our parents.

Today's Market Day was a fun and engaging learning experience for the children.

They actively participated in buying and selling activities, taking turns as both customers and sellers.

The children practiced counting money, making simple transactions, communicating politely and developing social skills.

Hands-on experiences work the extra mile to get those skills working positively for our children.
