What did Jesus said about repentance and who did he preached his first repentance gospel ???
Jesus said to the whole Jewish people repent and believe the GOSPEL for the kingdom of God is at hand.
The Jews were children of God by their birth and ancestry. They had already the knowledge of God in the law and instructions of God.
Many God's messengers have been sent unto them warning them to depart from evil.
They were the owners of the ten commandments.
The time Jesus was talking to them they have been organized into denominations: pharisees, scribes and Sadducees. Everyone of them with their own teachings. But Christ came with new message called the gospel.
The people then had only liturgy or dogma but the gospel was not revealed to them.
What is the gospel ???
Gospel is good news of grant of pardon.
So, repentance means coming out of liturgy of sinners and their legalism to believe on the pardon granted to anyone that come to God through Jesus.
So, Jesus told them that the kingdom they want to go is already at their hand breadth .
They should turn from the other way round and agree in the pardon.
So, accepting Jesus is the repentance to turn from your old believe of God and embrace the new revelation of God.
By accepting that you are sinner pardoned only in the person of Christ.
