PRESIDENTIAL AWARD ON THE 2023 WORLD TEACHERS' DAY

PUBLIC SCHOOLS' CATEGORY

Best Public Secondary Schools in Nigeria

The results as released by the Federal Ministry Of Education, Abuja.

1st: Imade College Owo, Ondo State.(South West)

2nd: St. Louis Grammar School Ikere, Ekiti State.(South West)

3rd: Government College Ibadan, Oyo State. (South West)

4th: Government Secondary School, Afikpo, Ebonyi State.(South East)

Our great school is the only school in the entire South East that made the list in the public school category as 4th best.

The Principal can't thank enough the Old Boys (OBA and AAA) for making us this proud with the facilities they put in place in our great school which account for over 50% of the assessment conducted by the Federal Ministry of Education when the Ministry sent a verifier to our great school. This award is therefore dedicated to the OBA and the AAA.

The Principal also deeply appreciates the Abuja Branch of the OBA for the support given our great school at the Eagle Square, Abuja venue of the award ceremony. The President of the Branch, Chika Chime(Please) and other members remained at the venue with the Principal and his wife from morning till the end of the event in the afternoon. The Principal has never seen such patriotism for a great Alma-Mater.

Our Federal Rep, Rt. Hon. Barr. Idu Igariwey, amazed by the awesome performance of our great school, promises to play host to the Principal before his departure to the East. He is a man who has never hidden his love for our great school. Recall he was one of the speakers at the last GSSAAA World Convention at Marriott Westchase, Houston, Texas, USA where he spoke glowingly of our great school.

The Principal shall articulate all financial support given him by individuals and groups, and make same public when he returns to the East.

Meanwhile, it is important to state that the Principal is not returning with a certificate of recognition alone, he is equally returning with a giant size refrigerator gifted the school by the organizers.

Special guests, Special Guest speakers, and Aborigines will grace this special convention. Your presence is highly appreciated as your story and experiences at our great school will add to the lore of our great GSSA. The great GSSA needs you to celebrate her milestone. It will not be complete without you! *THE VIRTUAL GSSA WORLDCON IS UPON US*

Gentlemen of GSSA (please to seniors),

It is no longer news that the Corona virus pandemic has wreaked havoc on the whole world. Neither is it news that the resultant Covid 19 illness has rendered the world “normaless”. Nothing is normal anymore. We now have to continue to invent normal.

The “normal” GSSA WorldCon usually held in the summer of each year was unable to hold because there are travel bans and uncertainty was the order of the day in July. No one was sure of what would happen day to day. So, there was a bid to cancel the WorldCon. But, thanks to the BOT of GSSAAA that refused to accept no for an answer. The BOT pushed the Convention Planning Committee (CPC) to “do something”. The BOT refused to accept a cancellation of the WorldCon. And so, the CPC went to work. Thinking caps were donned and brainwaves began to fly. Thus, was the idea of a virtual WorldCon born.

The CPC has been at work ever since and the plans for a Global, WorldCon are almost complete. All of us have seen the flyers on all social media fora announcing the date of the WorldCon. Of course, *Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18* are now etched in our subconscious as the days to meet virtually. We are happy to announce that those dates are now confirmed and here are the details.

*The platform for the WorldCon will be the ZOOM platform.* We anticipate numbers close to the thousands and we are ready. *Each day will begin at 3pm WAT, which will be 10am EST, 9am CST, 8am MST, and 7am PST.* The program includes most of the ingredients of a live convention and the speakers are a line up to behold. We will all be proud of the speaker selection this year. Thanks to the CPC, the experience will be as “real” as possible. Be ready.

Like all other conventions, there will be registration, there will be registration fees, and you can be sure the experience will be worth a lot more than the dues. Therefore, the dues have been pegged as follows:

All alumni resident in Nigeria will *pay NGN 5,000 per participant*

All alumni resident outside Nigeria will *pay $20.00 per participant*

There are payments because we have to pay for the platform and other ingredients. We will all be thankful and satisfied. Be on the lookout for the registration form.

So, get ready y’all and see you on the 17th and 18th.
